A Different Kind Of Game In Russia

Rick Mrozik, a former Calgary Flames' farmhand who spent the lockout playing for the Edmonton Roadrunners, the Oilers' No. 1 farm team, decided he would try Russia last summer. Russia seemed like the land of opportunity, a chance to earn a major-league salary for the first time in his life. Russia wasn't the most attractive destination, but he was going to Moscow, which is better than playing in the hinterland, and he was going with goaltender Tyler Moss, a former minor-league teammate... ..."He must have hit me on just the right spot on the head because it knocked me out," said Mrozik. "From what I was told, I helicoptered in the air and landed face-first on the ice. They brought me to the locker room and lay me on the floor.
