from Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun,
The Senators are ready to move on from the 2017-2018 season.
Can’t remember why the season was considered such a disaster? Here’s a (partial) reminder:
July 1, 2017: Senators icon Daniel Alfredsson, who was being groomed for an upper management position with the team, walked away from the organization for a second time. The sudden move did not go over well with the fan base, which thought Alfredsson was home to stay after finishing his playing career with the Detroit Red Wings following a contract dispute with the Senators.
August 12, 2017: The much beloved Bryan Murray passed away after a battle with cancer. Murray, the only coach to take the Senators to the Stanley Cup finals, had been in an advisory role after years as the team’s general manager. Along with Alfredsson’s departure, the loss left the organization minus two highly-respected leaders.
