MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens announced on Wednesday that they had agreed to terms with pending-restricted free agent forward Alex Galchenyuk on a new 3-year contract. The deal will run through the 2019-20 season.

The 23-year-old is entering his sixth campaign with the Canadiens. Last season, Galchenyuk played in 61 games, netting 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points. Fifteen of those points were scored on the power play. He also suited up for all six games of the Habs' first-round series against the New York Rangers, contributing three assists and an even differential.

In 2015-16, Galchenyuk hit the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his career. The Milwaukee, WI native appeared in all 82 games that season, adding 26 assists. Lifetime, Galchenyuk has played 336 games and collected 89 goals and 115 assists for 204 career points.
