A Protective Face Shield

I borrowed a friends helmet with a full plexy face shield and it was miserable. My head got way too hot wearing it to the point I was suffering from heat exhaustion. I normally use the wire cage.

I could see this as a problem for pro athletes trying to hard and having issues. I used it during an open hockey practice session where it didn’t matter how hard I skated or how long my shift was.

I could see this being one of the big sticking points for the players - having to wear a mask like this.

No way I would want to wear one of these…no ways.

Speaking of…it got me thinking.  Once play resumes, will the NHL make the “face wash” an illegal move worthy of being kicked out or suspended?  You know, where a player will shove his sweaty glove into the face of his opponent?

I’d personally see the choice between wearing a full face shield and not being able to play the game that’s making you rich is a pretty easy decision.

Of course I could be wrong, even though every single player who has every had a facial injury has chosen to wear a full shield in order to play rather than waiting until the injury is 100% healed.

“Mary-Kay Messier” - sounds like she should be heading up a line of cosmetics for hockey players.
