from Scott Cullen of TSN,
A difference-maker in many fantasy leagues is the ability to hit on a player that is ready to bust out for a career season, usually taking advantage of an increased role after a year or three in the league.
Here are some candidates to consider for potential breakthroughs this season:
Jonathan Drouin – He won’t be sneaking up on anyone this year, even though the third-overall pick in the 2013 Draft has eight goals in 92 career games. He was outstanding for Tampa Bay in last year’s playoffs, however, putting up 14 points in 17 games and the brilliant playmaker should get a more prominent role in Tampa Bay this year.
Teuvo Teravainen – Acquired by Carolina from Chicago as the sweetener for taking on Bryan Bickell’s contract, Teravainen is a talented 22-year-old playmaker who had 35 points in a supporting role last season despite being saddled with an unsustainably low on-ice shooting percentage (5.5 per cent). A more significant role with an offensively-challenged Carolina team, along with likely more favourable percentages could result in a big scoring increase for Teravainen.
