from Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune,
In the dying seconds of Tampa Bay’s one-goal loss to Vancouver, Ryan Callahan raised his stick in the air with both hands and nearly did his best Bo Jackson impersonation over his knee.
It’s been that kind of season for Callahan. Though continuing to be the hard-nosed presence that defines his game, he has not scored a goal since Nov. 1 and has just four on the season.
“I’m extremely frustrated,’’ Callahan said. “I need to be better.’’
A year after scoring 24 goals, Callahan is on pace to finish with 10, which would be his lowest output since his rookie year, when he had eight in 52 games with the New York Rangers. His pace of 0.12 goals per game would be the lowest of his career.
The drought for Callahan has reached 21 games heading into tonight’s game against Columbus, and his offensive struggles mirror those of the Lightning this season.
