Kukla's Korner Hockey

3 Games Today

Washington travels to Pittsburgh for a 12:30pm ET match, Boston takes on Philadelphia at 3:00pm and Colorado plays in Anaheim at 8:00pm.

How hard is it to move up the conference ladder?

On December 26th, the Anaheim Ducks were sitting in 14th place, 16 points out of the 8th position in the conference.

Since that time, the Ducks have gone 8-3-1 and are now in the 13th spot and also 13 points out of the 8th spot.

Too bad for the Ducks, well not really.

I seem to recall Ken Holland mentioning, on the importance of getting out to a good start, (and I am paraphrasing) that it is only realistic to expect to “gain” two points out of every 10 games played.

Ducks have 36 games left, so according to Holland’s theory, they can maybe make up 8 points.  Going to leave them just a little short.  I won’t be crying.
