2013 NHL Draft

George and I will be updating the draft picks as they happen in this post.

We will stop after the first round and then you can follow the draft selections at TSN or NHL.com.

If trades happen during the draft today, they most likely will have their own blog post.

Also, when updating the draft selections in the first round, we will not be using a timestamp on them in order to save some time.

If you need broadcast information on the NHL Draft, you can refer to this post from earlier today.

Hopefully this draft goes as quickly as possible, teams will be on a 3 minute clock once their name gets called.  Teams can also use 5, five minute timeouts throughout the draft and they can by used all at once.  There will be clocks on the stage counting down either situation.

Draft is moving along rather fast. Not 3 min. per pick, but about 5-7.

How does an absolute surefire No.1 overall pick drop to No.4?

May play alongside Shea Weber.  Poor kid

Yeah, now he has to play with one of the more talented/dominant d-men in the league…what a bummer.

My guess…and this is just a gut feeling: Makeup/locker room concerns.

The interviews I’ve seen with him gave me the impression that he’s got a very, very high opinion of himself and is a bit of a lone wolf.

Here comes DAL and Jim Nill’s first draft as the Stars’ GM.  He picks Valeryi Nichushkin.  BIG kid, got Fedorov-style strides.

With all of their ownership troubles, PHX picks Max Domi.  Tie’s own kid going to the Yotes.  But he’s not gonna be his dad; this kid’s a playmaker.

I don’t think NBCSN understands the lyrics behind Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” clearly to be the background theme song for their broadcasting of the Barclays English Premier League fixtures starting in August.  Doesn’t mean I won’t watch.

At the 13th position, the Jets pick offensive defenseman Joshua Morrissey.

The only thing worse than not getting picked in the first round is getting picked by the Islanders.

At #16, the Buffalo Sabres pick London Knights Nikita Zadorov.  They’re gonna like him in BUF; the kid’s a hitter for a defensman.
