Kukla's Korner Hockey
Just some of a few quick things today, as EA’s newest NHL 12 blog, which was supposed to be released “soon” has yet to surface. So instead I bring you some old news I should have reported a long time ago, and some a recent tidbit of video from yesterday.
Earlier this afternoon, some NHL 12 fans on the internet found a new Legends video, posted exclusively on the EB Games (now GameStop) webpage for NHL 12. However, the video was kind of “hidden”, thankfully over the time it took for me to write this update, there has been a new link to this new video released by EA Sports in an exclusive with GameStop’s official site, which makes it much easier to find, and is of much better quality that the original one that was found.
Read on, as I’ll provide a link to this new video ( UPDATE - Days later, I finally have the video included in this post ), which reveals several bits of juicy new info on the Legends, including what their team uniforms look like, some info about unlocking them, and best of all, what their overall ratings will be! Also included in this update is some additional news about the Jets’ new sweaters potentially not being in the game upon release, and some new quick-clips about HUT and the EASHL.

Just minutes ago, the long awaited news finally dropped on EA’s NHL 12 Twitter Feed. Super Mario and Mr. Hockey are the final two Legends to be included in NHL 12. However, since EA’s official videos don’t allow for embedding. Expect an update in a few minutes when I find an embed-able version, which will be included below, along with some other thoughts on this final list of Legends in NHL 12.
Updated with video, and more…
Is Sidney Crosby still the number one pick in fantasy leagues?
Mere hours after my posting suggesting that Crosby should be the first overall pick, Josh Rimer’s tweet about Crosby’s unlikeliness to be in the Penguins’ lineup to start the season was making the rounds.

My apologies for not breaking this news the moment it dropped, as was the case yesterday. I happened to oversleep by a few hours this morning… anyway, here is the scoop. First, in a video released on EA’s Sports Swedish Facebook Page, further confirmed yesterday’s news about Yzerman, and then went on to reveal that Toronto Maple Leafs’ Swedish defenseman, Borje Salming, will also be one of the included Legends in NHL 12.
Just caught this via EA’s NHL 12 Twitter feed moments ago…

While I await the upcoming news on the next batch of Legends to be released, I happened to catch this tidbit of news that just broke. EA has just released a new blog, which includes the official soundtrack list for NHL 12. Including two all-new songs off upcoming albums by Anthrax and Bush.
We’re in the dead days of August, but that will all change in a couple weeks when Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS start forming single-season fantasy hockey leagues. Included in the new leagues will be updated player rankings, which will no doubt be subject to plenty of debate. The first place many will look on the rankings system will be for the name at the top of the list.
In previous seasons, the player selected first overall was an obvious choice; for example, Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Martin Brodeur, or in earlier times, Mario Lemieux or Wayne Gretzky. However, the decision of the top-ranked player in fantasy hockey is much more wide-open than it has been in a while. What I have for you is five possible names that could be listed at the top of ranking sheets, along with the cases for making them the first overall pick.
In an exclusive interview with Game Hunters, USA Today’s branch of video game coverage, The Great One sat down to talk with them briefly about NHL 12, as well as hockey past, present, and future.
Normally, I’d just link to the interview, but it is Sunday, and I’m looking for something to break the dull of boredom that is putting together those “Around the Leagues” updates together. So I’ll bring you the full thing, with some of my own side comments when appropriate.
Via a new producer blog released by EA late yesterday, we have some more details now how the new “Legends” will be incorporated into NHL 12. Also, before that, I missed some news about the game demo, which was released on Thursday via another exclusive with Operation Sports. There has also been a new quick-clip released on the multiple EASHL player builds.
Read on, as I’ll get into all of this and begin breaking it down for further analysis.
