No Fantasy Hockey For You

from the Wall Street Journal at Nasdaq,

Yahoo Inc. and the National Hockey League have barred employees from playing in paid fantasy-sports contests, moves that come amid questions over whether workers at big fantasy-sports companies have access to inside data.

Yahoo, a relative newcomer to paid fantasy sports, said Friday that employees are no longer permitted to play paid, daily contests on any site. Yahoo workers already were banned from playing on the company's site.

The NHL said Friday that employees are banned from playing this season, which started Wednesday.

The purveyors of the industry's biggest fantasy sites, FanDuel Inc. and DraftKings Inc., came under fire this week after an employee of one startup with access to inside data won big money on the other's site. Both companies said they would permanently ban employees from playing in daily fantasy contests for money, and would enlist attorneys to review their processes.

Top Five Reasons To Start A Dynasty Or Keeper Fantasy Hockey League This Season

If you are into playing fantasy hockey this season, now is the time to do so.

Fantrax offers playing options, listens to their customers and are hockey guys.

Checke out what they have to offer...

KEY POINTS:

Fantasy meets reality — it took the Chicago Blackhawks nearly 10 years to build their team into a winner … now you can be the GM who builds a team from scratch into Stanley Cup champions.

- What’s the difference between dynasty and keeper leagues?

Dynasty - Once you draft or acquire a player, he’s yours.  Outside of a trade or drop, that player remains with your team from season-to-season.

Keeper - In a keeper league, you are generally only allowed to keep a pre-determined number of players year over year (i.e. six keepers).  The rest of your players are returned into the following year’s draft pool

Fantasy Sports For The Hardcore Fantasy Player

Throughout the years of existence, Kukla's Korner has been known to attract the knowledgeable and hardcore hockey fans.

So I am always on the lookout for sites which share the same interest and when it comes to fantasy sports, Fantrax is just the place.

Being an indepenent owner of a website, I know the ups and downs that come with it.  One of the positives is I don't report to anyone, I make the final decision and consider KK a success story.

The same holds true with Fantrax: A decade ago, a group of hardcore fantasy geeks decided they were fed up with the lack of features and overall gameplay of fantasy leagues on the big conglomerate websites.

They took matters into their own hands. After years of development, the first fantasy site built by fans, for fans was ready for launch.

The guiding principles were simple.  Create a superior fantasy product that was easy-to-use, more powerful, more feature-rich, with more flexibility to set things up the way you wanted to. All backed up with industry-leading customer service provided by people who actually care and want to make your experience better.

Ten years later, Fantrax has not only survived, but it has grown into the #1 choice among players looking for the ultimate fantasy experience.

A pretty similar experience which I have gone through and success comes to those who work hard, listen to their fanbase/readers and think about being in their customers shoes.

If You Play Fantasy Hockey

from Scott Cullen of TSN,

As NHL training camps get underway, it's time to drop the puck on Fantasy Hockey season. Earlier this week, I started with theTop 300 projected scorers and contributed to TSN's NHL Preview, too.

Now, here are the position-by-position Fantasy rankings, which incorporate more than scoring. For the purposes of these rankings, G, A, +/-, PPP, H, BLK and SOG are included. I've found that fewer leagues are using PIM as time goes on, so if you're still in such a league, you can make necessary adjustments.

A quick positional overview:

Centre is a deep position, but you're going to want an elite option if possible because there are so few players capable of putting up 70-plus points, and and I've forecasted a dozen centres to cross that threshold.

Because there are far fewer wingers at the elite level, it makes the best of them , like Alex Ovechkin, Jamie Benn, Phil Kessel and Joe Pavelski, worth even more in relative terms.

Defence offers many options, though Erik Karlsson and P.K. Subban are ahead of the rest in terms of production.

From A Fantasy Point Of View, The Trades During The NHL Draft

from Tom Collins of Dobber Hockey,

What trades had the greatest fantasy impact? Not including players selected in the draft through traded draft picks, here are the top 10 players that were impacted in deals this past weekend.

 10. Antti Niemi

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Niemi. I wanted him to win the Vezina in 2013, and thought the Sharks threw him under a bus by not starting him in Game 6 of the first round series a couple of years back when the Kings made their historic comeback. Niemi is also pretty underrated fantasy-wise. Despite his struggles this past year, and a Sharks team that didn't give him much help, Niemi still ranked 19th in Yahoo rotisserie and head-to-head leagues (ahead of Ryan Miller, Craig Anderson, Sergei Bobrovsky and Kari Lehtonen). Now, if he signs with Dallas, he gets a chance to be the number one goalie on a team that scored the second-most goals per game last year. The only reason he isn't ranked higher is because of the uncertainty he signs in Dallas, and if he does, whether he splits starts with Kari Lehtonen. If he goes into next season as the certified number one, he jumps up to number one on this list.

 9. Mikhail Grigorenko

Probably no player has ever been as happy to get away from a team than Grigorenko is to get out of Buffalo. It may be too hasty to say the team ruined him, but it would not be surprising for a 21-year-old to very dejected after his few years there.
