Kukla's Korner Hockey
The Penguins have signed their first round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, defenseman Joe Morrow, to a three-year entry-level deal. Morrow was recently in town for the Penguins developmental camp and opened some eyes with his attention to detail, better than expected skating and hockey smarts. Morrow bolsters the Penguins already strong stable of defensive prospects, joining 2010 first rounder Simon Despres, Robert Bortuzzo, Brian Strait, Philip Samuelsson, and Carl Sneep.
How selfish of me.
I spent the last week enjoying all that the summer has to offer, taking in several different concerts in and around the Pittsburgh area such as Exodus, Slayer, Rob Zombie, Motley Crue, Poison, U2, Kingdom of Sorrow, Megadeth, Godsmack, Disturbed and even managed to give Dave Mustaine a Penguins jersey in the process (but that will be a story for another day).
Ah, the summertime… bikinis, baseball, hot dogs, humidity, high temps, vacations and ABSURD trade rumors. I realize that the probability of an absurd trade rumor making the rounds is much higher during the months between the start of unrestricted free agency and the opening of training camps, but sometimes I have just got to shake my head and tell you that something isn’t going to happen.
The interesting thing about the rumors that have actually prompted me to sit down and write a blog contradicting them is that they seemingly always revolve around Evgeni Malkin.
Well Penguins fans, are you happy?
(Can you all tell that I just saw an epic performance from U2 last night???)
Greetings Penguins fans and people of Kukla’s Korner! It is a pleasure to join you here!
My name is Brian Metzer and I am a hockey blogger, podcaster, broadcaster, webmaster, and all around media mastodon… at least according to my Twitter profile.
I have been around the block and on the scene for quite some time breaking in to the hockey blogging game back in 2004. I started doing it for bigger entities in 2005 and since that time have written for a number of outlets including Versus.com. I am also a Penguins correspondent for XM Home Ice and TSN Radio 1050.
