Coyotes center Derek Stepan was the recipient of a hit to the head from Stars defenseman Jamie Oleksiak and was removed from the game with an upper-body injury, per the Coyotes.

The Coyotes did not have an update on Stepan's condition after the game, other than to say he had entered concussion protocol. Stepan appeared fairly agitated when he left the arena Sunday night.

All Eyes Are Now On The Arizona Coyotes

from Mark Spector of Sportsnet,

It is the perfect moment for Taylor Hall to land in Arizona, a team that suddenly has a serious chance at making a playoff run. And now, with this injection of excitement and legitimacy, we will finally learn about the Coyotes, their fan base, and if the hockey world has a place in the Arizona desert.

After all these anonymous years in the desert for this franchise, and all the forgettable seasons for Hall, can this player take that team as his lawfully wedded knife, and carve out some long awaited success for both parties?

“That’s what this is all about,” said Hall, who is so ready to win after a 10-year career that has given him five lousy playoff games. “It’s not about what line I play on, or which power-play unit. I’m really just looking forward to winning games.”

With Hall’s arrival, all eyes are on Arizona — something we’ve never said in the 24 years since the Jets moved south from Winnipeg.

Taylor Hall On A Media Conference Call

via Nick Cotsonika tweets,

Hall said it's been hard over the last few days, but it's part of the business. Missing the first game was fine, but after that, you start to think. Was eager to get moved. Arizona is a great spot for me. Looks like he'll be playing tomorrow.

Hall said he feels healthy and was confident he could help any team he was going to join. "They've had a great year so far. I want to contribute to that as much as I can."

Hall said he's not here to guarantee the playoffs in Arizona, but the Coyotes are in first place. He's coming in to help. He doesn't know what his role will be and doesn't care. Just excited to join a team that's winning.

Asked about his contract, Hall said he has been open-minded with everything this year. Talking to Chayka, that's something they can discuss. Both sides are comfortable with playing and letting that sort itself out.

There is more from Hall in Cotsonika's recent Twitter feed.

Your First Place Arizona Coyotes

from Richard Morin of the Arizona Republic,

The Coyotes captured first place in the Pacific Division with a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

With the win, the Coyotes (17-9-4) gained sole possession of first place in the division for the first time since Oct. 26, 2015.

It is the latest in the season atop the Pacific Division standings for the Coyotes since the end of the 2011-12 season, a year that featured both the team's lone divisional crown and most-recent playoff berth.

The Coyotes were held to anemic 18 shots but still managed more finishes than the Flyers, who suffered just their second regulation loss at home this season.
