Tverdovsky Considering Russia

from Sport-Express, with rough translation below:

Last night to Moscow from America there has arrived the defender of club of NHL ” Los Angeles Kings ” Oleg Tverdovsky.
I have some offers from clubs of the superleague. The most interesting - from “Salavat Yulaev.” On Monday with the agent we take off for Ufa for negotiations and, probably, signings of the contract, - has told Tverdovsky to the correspondent “SE” to Vladimir YURIN.

And how your contract with “Los Angeles” which a year operates as early as?
There are some variants to terminate the contract with “Kings”. I think, we shall find an optimum way to make it. In “Los Angeles” to me do not trust, and to play for this command I do not want.

Cammalleri Will Get Two Year Contract

from Rich Hammond at Inside the Kings,

The only real news of the day is that Cammalleri will get a two-year contract, regardless of how much it’s worth.

more and I believe Rich has had enough of the Raycroft to the Kings talk too…

added 9:37pm, More from Rich at the same blog, Inside the Kings,

If the Kings accept the contract, they will have Cammalleri under contract through 2008-09, after which he would become an unrestricted free agent. As for the question of trading him, I don’t know why they request a two-year contract if they had any thoughts of trading him. Plus, I didn’t get the feeling that it was even a possibility.

Make sure to check this out, very insightful and quotes from Lombardi…

Dave Taylor Appears To Be Heading To Dallas

via the LA Times (reg. req.),

One of the most enduring and respected figures in the Kings’ organization, Dave Taylor, will no longer be with the franchise.
Taylor’s contract expired June 30, and it is expected he is going to be hired by the Dallas Stars in a front-office capacity, according to a source familiar with the Kings, though nothing has been finalized.
Taylor, who played 17 seasons for the Kings and served as general manager for nine more until April 2006, on Thursday called his three-decade tenure with the team “very rewarding” and said he was “looking to a new challenge.”
This past season, Taylor served as the team’s director of amateur development and it appeared as though the Kings were poised to increase his role.

Cammalleri and the Kings at an Impasse

From the CP via TSN,

The Los Angeles Kings and leading scorer Mike Cammalleri appear headed for a showdown in salary arbitration next week.
‘‘The Kings have yet to make me an offer,’’ Cammalleri said Wednesday during the NHL Players’ Association annual charity golf tournament. ‘‘There hasn’t been all that much communication. For me, I guess I can only take that as an indication of where I stand right now.’‘
Kings GM Dean Lombardi confirmed he wasn’t any close to re-signing the restricted free agent.
‘‘To be honest, we’re pretty far apart,’’ Lombardi told The Canadian Press from his Los Angeles office.

Nice Look At The Voice Of The Kings

from the Acorn,

“My life changed dramatically right from the announcement that (Gretsky) was becoming a King,” Miller said. “The (number of) telecasts increased from 30 to 62 that first year. Our season ticket holders more than doubled. I would go around town and people would start recognizing me for the first time. It was great to see L.A. finally come to embrace hockey.”
Miller made the call of his life when Gretsky broke Gordie Howe’s scoring record in 1989.
“It’s my favorite moment in my broadcasting career,” Miller said. “I didn’t want it to sound too rehearsed, but then someone called me up asking what I was going to say when he broke the record.
“When he scored I waited a few seconds and said, ‘Wayne Gretsky, the Great One, has just become the greatest of them all- the leading scorer in the history of the National Hockey League.’ I’m just thankful that it was a clear goal so I was able to call the play accurately.”

Kings Searching For Dman

from Rich Hammond at Inside the Kings,

I’m told that the Kings are still shopping around for a defenseman, but I don’t get the sense that they MUST get one. It’s highly doubtful that it’s going to be Stuart and it’s certainly not going to be Souray. The Souray thing represents everything that’s wrong with Web site rumor-mongering. For days, the Kings were talked about as ``leaders’’ for Souray. The Kings aren’t interested in Souray and never have been, unless he wanted to sign some sort of one-year, bargain-basement deal, and that’s not going to happen.

Did you get that folks, “rumor-mongering” and Rich hits it right on the head…
