Kukla's Korner Hockey
Sorry for the problem. From my hosting service.
[November 12th 2012 - 12:17PM CST] Our team has identified another spike on the monitored web cluster that has caused the most recent intermittent performance impacts. We’re working to identify where/who is the source of impacts.
So if you have access issues, you know the problem is being addressed.
Over the last 24 hours some of you may have been experiencing KK loading issues and I'd like to apologize for the issue.
However, it looks like the problem has been found and it is being worked on.
via my hosting service,
November 9th 2012 - 1:45PM CST] We’re continuing to investigate into yesterday’s downtime. We’ve isolated the root cause to what appears to be a shared web and database server cluster. We’re diving in and will post when we have more updates. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
added 3:59pm, Hopefully this means all is good...
[November 9th 2012 - 2:33PM CST] In an attempt to identify where the exact cause of these performance impacts are we have taken some of our shared web clusters offline. We’re moving forward with our investigation and are enabling web clusters as they are ruled out as a source of the cause. Thank you for your continued patience.
Note, moved to top of page, original post time was 7:20am on 11/1/12.
Yes, it is that time of year for the KK semi-annual donation drive.
Kukla's Korner is not part of a big corporate site and there are no financial backers either, it is all me.
With the lockout, viewership is down which also means income is down while the cost of running KK remains the same.
I have had to hold back on a few more enhancements to KK and even if the NHL returns in December, I won't see things returning to financial stability until February.
I am not going anywhere and will continue to do what I do, but things are tough right now.
How you can help...
I need a night off and besides, how many times can one say "the two sides are not talking"?
Time for a decent dinner, then hit the couch and sit back and watch Miggy launch a two run shot in the 1st.
If a miracle happens regarding the lockout, of course I will post, but if not, see you in the morning.
Make sure to stay away from the flavoured potato chip.
I am off to Game 2 of the ALDS between Oakland and Detroit. A 12:07pm start is a little early but who's complaining.
I will have my tablet with me and will update any important hockey news while at the game, otherwise, don't expect anything from me for the next six hours or so.
from the folks who host Kukla's Korner.
During our standing maintenance window tonight we will be making some needed adjustment to our core routing infrastructure. We generally strive for a longer notification period before work like this, but the working being done was deemed needed sooner rather than later.
Maintenance Window: 11pm to 2am (Central US)
Outage length: 15 to 45 seconds x 3 or 4 separate incidence during the window.
note: Just moving this to the front page so more eyes see it. Original post was 9/5/12 at 12:41am.
This feature is only available to KK Members (register here, free and allows you to participate in the conversations) and is one many of you have been waiting for.
First you need go to Profile at the top right of any KK page, then select Edit Profile, then scroll down a bit until you see Please Select the Blogs That Will Appear on Your Member Homepage.
Follow the directions, update click and/or bookmark your new homepage.
Your homepage will also be available to you at the top right of any KK page in case you forgot to bookmark it.
Remember, the blogs you list are the blogs that will appear on your homepage, if you don't list the blog, it will not appear (no option for KK Hockey, sorry, you are stuck with that)..
Also, if you visit the regular KK Homepage, you will get all the blogs so make sure to use your homepage link if you want certain blogs not to appear on the KK Homepage.
One last note, KK has a new web developer who is responsible for the software upgrade and also for these enhancements. His name is Jacob Russell and if you need his services, feel free to contact him.
Next up, KK Members will be able to edit comments, look for that in the next week or so.
Probably the most requested from members was the ability to ignore another KK Member in the comments.
Well, it is in place now.
Go to your Profile, top right of any KK page, select utilities and then from there Manage Ignore List.
Add the member's screen name, click Add Member and you are finished.
Now when that member posts a comment, you will see You have chosen to ignore comments from this member.
The major KK software upgrade has been completed.
We are doing this in steps and within days you will see some major enhancements.
Remember, only KK members can post now, which will eliminate much of the spam and flaming comments.
If you go into your Profile, upper top of any KK page, you will notice under Utilities, a manange ignore list. Click it, type in a screen name you wish to ignore and you won't see comments from that person.
That option will be coming within days along with the ability to edit your comments and embed YouTube videos in comments.
If you see an issue, feel free to leave a comment below.
added 4:02pm, I forgot to mention KK members will have the ability to have their own homepage which will list the blogs you want to see.
All will be worked on this week.
