Kukla's Korner Hockey
If you missed the news earlier, start here and I agree with Westhead and I did not even include the "jersey ads" in the main story since I felt Collins was talking in general terms.
Yet it has become a hot topic of the day elsewhere.
It's been a hectic last three days for me so I am rewarding myself with some time off tonight.
I will be watching the games tonight and nothing else.
Of course if something major does pop up I will post, but other than that, see you tomorrow morning.
Yes, I have been following on CBC today the tragic news out of Ottawa.
My heart plus thoughts and prayers go out to Cpl. Nathan Cirillo of Hamilton who was killed today guarding the National War Memorial.
Yes, we have hockey tonight but it won't be the same, sporting events are secondary when tragedy strikes like it did today.
May this world which seems to be closing in on us become a better place, one where we can go through our daily routines without fear of violence.
Have a great day Canada, enjoy the time with familty and friends.
Here it the USA we celebrate Columbus Day which to me is a day without mail or banking.
But it does mean two early hockey games, Avs/Bruins at 1pm ET and Ducks/Sabres at 3pm.
Whatever your plans are today, rembemeber we are one day closer to an NHL team winning the Stanley Cup.
My plan for the next two and a half days is to take it slow, real slow. I am even thinking about taking the ice in a glass challenge, filled with a little adult beverage.
I need to step away from the computer, email, twitter, etc. to recharge my battery and catch up on a little R & R.
George Malik will try to fill in when necessary while I am away and I will return on Monday.
Have a good weekend and the countdown for hockey will begin soon enough.
KK was down this morning for about 1/2 hour due to a server issue.
I have been told the system may go down again before it becomes stable again so if you cannot access KK, you will know the reason why.
Sorry for the problem.
Looking ahead, we are not that far away from the official opening of NHL training camps which is September 11th.
The NHL pre-season starts on September 14th and opening day rosters must be set by 3:00pm ET on September 30th.
October 1st is the opening of the NHL regular season and then the fun begins.
No hot dog or apple pie so early in the morning, but I do think those items and much more are on the menu today.
Have a great day and here in Michigan, it looks like the entire state will enjoy abundant sunshine with temperatures in the mid to high 70's.
To all of you traveling for the long 4th of July weekend, please be safe and have a great weekend.
If you are staying at home, I will be posting on a limited basis tomorrow, especially after the morning update, but will post any important news.
I will be back on a regular schedule for the weekend but I expect it will be slow, very slow.
Again, enjoy the weekend and hope the weather is perfect for everyone.
It has been a long 60 hour stretch for me.
I wish I could say I am heading for the lake for the summer, but that is impossible for me.
I just need to re-charge a bit tonight and will be back in the morning.
If you wish to talk amongst yourselfs in the comment section, feel free to do os.
Until tomorrow and I will leave you with this... Steve Yzerman talked with the guys from NHL Live a bit earlier today to discuss the moves the Lightning made and other topis, listen/watch below...
