Kukla's Korner Hockey
Earlier today, Pierre McGuire of NBC and TSN was good enough to share his hockey observations with Paul and myself. We asked him about the upcoming Philadelphia/Pittsburgh game this Sunday at noon EDT on NBC, got some gossip about what goes on “Between the Glass”, and insights into both the Western and Eastern conferences going into the playoffs.
You can download the interview by this mp3 file here, or listen on the player below.
*Our sincere thanks to Pierre McGuire for taking this time with us, and to NBC for arranging the interview.
[Updated March 10th —Originally posted March 4th. Deadline for contest entries is tomorrow. Details below.]
Can Alexander Ovechkin get to 60 goals this season? You tell me!
Pick the game, period and time that AO will reach 60 goals this season. If you are the closest (in case of tie, a random drawing will be held between the winning entries) with your prediction, you win a replica Rbk Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin Premier jersey.
Also, anyone entering will be entered into a random drawing for an autographed, limited edition DVD from Alex’s Calder Trophy season, courtesy of the Washington Capitals.
To help you out, here is the Caps schedule for the season. I need the date of the game, what period he will get #60 and the time of the goal, NOT the time left in the period.
Closest to the correct time (over or under) will win the jersey. If Ovechkin does not get to 60 goals, a random drawing will be held for the jersey.
You must be a KK member to win (join, it’s free!) and good luck. Also, all entries must submitted in the comment section of this post (no emails) and must be timestamped by noon EDT on March 11, 2008.
With Daylight Saving Time (DST) just around the corner, I wanted to give KK members a heads-up to change your time settings.
Go into your KK Member Account settings (located near the top right of any page), go to Localization Settings, tick the DST box & update. Also, make sure your time zone is set-up to match your local time if you want KK to coincide with your local time.
Also, you have less than 3 days to enter the latest KK Challenge and win an Alexander Ovechkin jersey!
How did we do yesterday?
It has been a long couple of days for us here at KK. We plan to take it easy for the night, however we may pop-in here and there.
As mentioned earlier, we’re giving away a $25 gift certificate (for shop.nhl.com or IceJerseys.com) to a random KK member every hour until 2:00pm ET. The winner must login and comment on this post within 20 minutes to claim their prize or the certificate will be added to the 12pm ET prize, making it $50.
The first winner at 11am ET is La Puck (screen name “Denny”)
Hope to hear from you quickly!
Update 11:21am ET: Prize was unclaimed in time and now rolling over to 12 noon. Next prize $50!
Kukla’s Korner just keeps on growing and to show our thanks to you, we will be giving away a $25 gift certificate to Shop.NHL.com or IceJerseys.com beginning at 11:00am ET today, then again at noon, 1:00pm and 2:00pm.
In order to be eligible to win, you must be a KK member, no charge to join, then, when you see a post at the top of those hours mentioned above and you see your name in the post, you must leave a comment within 20 minutes to win. Easy as that, and if no one responds, we will add the certificate to the next hour’s prize package.
We hope you enjoy the day and you get every player you are wishing for!!!
Also feel free to check out the KK Chat Rooms throughout the day and chat it up with hockey fans just like you.
You may want to check in Tuesday, especially at 11am, noon, 1pm and 2pm ET.
You may be happy that you did. If not a KK member, you can register here and get this, it is free and you may actually win something!!!
More information on this in the morning.

In order to provide KK readers with quickest load-times during this busy time, we have removed the scoreboard widget on the right sidebar. It will return in time for the games tomorrow night.
If this is your first time at KK during the trade period, may we suggest you keep an eye on previous posts. If additional information comes about regarding that topic, we may just add to that post, depending on the importance of the new information.
Many emails have streamed in from KK readers, asking about our trade deadline plans.
Our plans are the same as always, giving you the hockey news when it happens.
You can review our work from last year on Februay 27, 2007 to get an idea on how we will present the news to you.
Also, I am sure the KK Chatroom will be active during trade deadline day too.
