KK- Power Supply

To make a long story short, lost power last night.  This morning computer would not turn on.

Off to the computer store, purchased a new power supply, and that was the problem.  I should be back in the swing of things in about twenty minutes.

Sorry for the delay and yes, I bought a battery backup unit too, no more power hits for me.

Technical Difficulties

KK went offline briefly and we’re not sure why.  But it seems to be back up and working for now.

Sorry about the interruption.

added 4:55pm (Paul), from our hosting company and sorry for the tech terms- you may understand it better than I did…

Staff is still investigating along with the data centers Sr. engineers and CTO on the root cause of the issues, so far the conclusion is that a line card in one of the Cisco switches at the data center providers core that feeds our own network was the initial cause of the problems.

The actual initial cause of that issue we are still looking into as we have never had trouble with that connection/switch connection to the data center before.  Sorry for the slow loadings, or inability to access our systems for approx. 10 to 15 minutes depending on which of our monitoring systems we review and what they test for.

A Little Down Time

Any breaking new tonight, this post is all yours to announce it.

You see, we need a little down time right now.  The updates have been fast and furious since July 1st and it is time to slow down just a bit.

Feel free to consider this an open post, hockey related of course.

Enjoy the 4th Of July

It is the start of a long holiday weekend here in the States and we hope everyone celebrating Independence Day has a safe and enjoyable holiday.

We will be here all day covering the latest hockey news, signings and trades that may come about.

And no, we are not getting paid double-time!

Thank You!

Finally getting some time to catch a breath, we checked out the KK traffic stats for the last two days:

  • page views for July 1—1,472,578

  • page views for July 2—1,077,107

A huge thanks to our readers for their visits and comments, to the mainstream media and others who regularly send us tips to ensure we don’t miss anything, and to the many blogs and websites for their referrals.

Some of those sites include: James Mirtle, The Pens Blog, Seth Rorabaugh at Empty Netters, WDFN in Detroit (and numerous other radio stations), Spector’s Hockey, Japers Rink, HF Boards, NHL.com, Lets Go Wings, NHL Live! on the NHL Network (loved that close-up of us on TV yesterday!), Gorilla Crouch... and so on.  (This list isn’t comprehensive—there are many others—but our appreciation is.)

Anyway, back to work.  Sooner or later someone’s gotta sign the rest of these guys, right? smile

Open Post

What player or players are you hoping your team will sign once the UFA signing period starts on July 1st at noon ET?

Do you expect any trades to be made by your team or will they stand pat?

Let your opinion be known by commenting in this post!

To review how the first day of the UFA signing period went last year, take a look back on KK and work forward using the page navigation at the bottom of the page.

We are now on high alert mode and will be providing updates when any hockey news breaks.  Stay tuned, it appears with the rise of the cap, players are waiting to see what their value is on the open market.

Thoughts From the Draft: Day 2

imageGuest writer Erin Nicks is covering the NHL Entry Draft in Ottawa for Kukla’s Korner this weekend.

By Erin Nicks

Those concerned about Ottawa picking up some grit in this year’s draft will need to dig deep into Round 5, when the club (after much apparent hemming and hawing) selected defenceman Mark Borowiecki with the 139th pick.

NHL Entry Draft 2008 Liveblog

imageGuest writers Erin Nicks and Patrick Williams are covering the NHL Entry Draft in Ottawa for Kukla’s Korner this weekend. This post will be updated with random news through the evening. Original post-time is 5:26pm. All times EST. Updates will be time-stamped and added below.

5:26pm—Erin:  Zach Bogosian, on his travels to Ottawa and the surrounding areas to train…

“I’ve been coming up here 4-5 days a week – it’s pretty bad on gas, but it’s worked for me for the past couple of years.  Obviously (fitness guru) Lorne Goldenberg has trained some great players like Gary Roberts and Cory Stillman – he helps me out a lot.  That’s one of the main reasons why I’ve succeeded over the past few years – he made my body ready for the rigours of the NHL.”
