Kukla's Korner Hockey
I know many of you are heading out for a long holiday weekend very soon and just wanted to keep you updated with our plans for KK.
We will be monitoring all UFA signings and possible trades throughout tonight, then return to our regular routine on Friday.
We may be a little slower with updates through the holiday weekend, but come next Tuesday, we will be right back at it.
I do plan on taking a vacation sometime late July or early August, I feel it is deserved after four years.
Again, be safe this weekend folks, we want you back on Tuesday.
No, I am not up yet, but soon will be.
For those readers who have been around KK for more then a year, you know what to expect today. For those of you that are new, you may want to check out how we did thing during the first day of the UFA period last season (then scroll forward). It is kind of fun to read all the talk last year on July 1st too,
KK will be around all day and into the night and will be providing you with the latest signings, trades and yes, even some of the rumors.
We hope you enjoy the day and just in case you are not sure, the UFA signing period starts at noon ET.
I have been in front of the computer since 6am today. I usually get up early to write my NHL.com blog on Tuesday’s so I am feeling a little weary-eyed right about now.
Tomorrow is a big day so I am heading to the couch to catch a little Tiger baseball but will check for any news on occasion over the next hour or so.
I just realized I failed to point out the NHL.com blog today, so here it is.
Enjoy the rest of your night and see you tomorrow.
With the draft completed, we now look forward to teams trying to sign their own UFAs and all the chatter that comes ahead of July 1st.
It is an exciting time for hockey fans and we here at KK will be providing you with the latest hockey news.
Thanks to Erin, Patrick and SENSHobo for providing live coverage from Montreal and to Alanah for all her work at KK yesterday.
Remember to check back often, you never know when news will break!
Some of the rumors from yesterday that proved to be false and please note, none were pointed out on KK…

When real news is about to break, we will be here, providing you with the information you seek and want.
Not the Tampa kind, but this is real lightning headed my way.
So I am shutting down, feel free to leave comments below on any breaking news and I will be baxk asap.
update 4:23pm, Back for now. These storms have high winds, trees down and lightning all over the place.
If I disappear again, you know why.
I am headed to my cousin’s home for a little family barbecue.
I will have my micro pc with me and will be checking in every so often and will update if necessary. In the meantime, anything on your mind, feel free to leave a comment below to get the conversation started.
May you enjoy Father’s Day the way you want it.
Maybe taking in a ball game, kicking back and watching the US Open, hitting the water for a little fun or just having a family barbecue, today is the day you can relax and let others do the work.
First off, a few days of relaxed posting, then we turn our attention to the NHL Awards Show in Vegas and the NHL Entry Draft in Montreal.
Shortly after the NHL Draft, the UFA signing period begins. Then hopefully, maybe late July or early August, I can take a vacation, the first one in four years!!!
Paul Kukla will be on the air in a few hours, 5pm ET, joining the crew at ESPN 770 to talk about Game 6 tonight between the Penguins and Red Wings.
Head over here and follow the link on the left side of their web page to listen live.
update 5:26pm, Well, that did not go well. No call back from the show, I was listening and heard Buccigross on. I must have been bumped by him.
Guess that is the way the radio biz goes but a email would have been nice notifying me of what was going on. First time something like that has happened to me.
