Kukla's Korner Hockey
The KK upgrade is running a bit behind schedule but should be ready to go within two weeks.
It has not been a very healthy summer for me but with a recent change of medication, I feel much better and have much more energy.
Many of you who have followed KK over the years know I have always concentrated on the game played on the ice and will continue to do so.
Many new KK members and followers on Twitter seem to appreciate the hockey talk and I have always assumed most people interested in KK are a little bit older, knowledgeable and don't want/care about some of the outlandish, off-ice stories which happen to appear every so often.
To all who will be meeting with family and friends today, enjoy the day and be safe.
The NHL is dark today which means I may go into hiding too but will be checking in throughout the day for any hockey news.
I am staying at home on this Thanksgiving Day. The stuffed cajun turkey is in the oven, the pumpkin pie has been made along with the garlic mashed potatoes and a glass or two of vino is awaiting too.
Have a great day everyone and I will be back in full force tomorrow morning.
Thank you for all you do.
You can call me part-timer for the next few days.
First off, thanks again for all the prayers and thoughts while I went through a tough three days.
I had a procedure done to remove a small tumor/polyp.growth from my small intestine which was causing some issues.
I feel pretty good at this point but was told to take it easy for a few days and that is what I plan on doing.
Updates this morning, then again later today/tonight and the same holds true for Sunday.
Monday it is my goal to get back to doing what I do on a more permanent basis.
Again, thanks to all for your concern and now back to hockey.
First about me. Had a tough 48 hours or so and was told to take it easy the rest of the day, but here I am with a quick update.
I have a small growth in my small intestine which causes all sorts of trouble. The good thing is most of the types of tumors are not cancerous and can be removed with a simple procedure.
I will probably face that soon but in the meantime, medication should help with the issues I was experiencing.
Thanks to all for the well wishes and I will be taking it easy the rest of the day.
Also this, hockey related...
RALEIGH, NC – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that defenseman James Wisniewski will undergo surgery on his left knee after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Thursday night’s game in Nashville. Recovery time for the injury is estimated at six months.
Acquired by the Hurricanes on June 27 from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Anton Khudobin, Wisniewski skated just 47 seconds of his Hurricanes debut prior to suffering the injury. Wisniewski, 31, is in his 11th NHL season, after totaling eight goals and 26 assists (34 points) in 69 games with Columbus and Anaheim in 2014-15. The Canton, MI, native was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round (156th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 552 career NHL regular-season games with Chicago, Anaheim, the New York Islanders, Montreal, Columbus and Carolina, totaling 53 goals and 221 assists (274 points) and 459 penalty minutes.
First thing up is getting some business out of the way.
The KK GoFundMe Donation Drive is about $1750 away from reaching the lofty goal.
Any and all donations are much appreciated.
Now about the new KK.
Enjoy the day, be safe and the best thing about this holiday, it tells us hockey is right around the corner.
I have decided to take it easy for the next four days which means my posts will be limited for those days. Depending on my mood, I may do a morning update, but after that, who knows.
Time to refresh the batteries by doing nothing except for catching up on the old Bonanza series on the DVR.
George Malik will fill in when he is around but do understand it is still slow in the hockey world and we will continue to post news which informs our members and readers.
Big changes are coming in the next month or so and when I say changes, I do not mean what we do but how we look.
Back officially on Monday and in the meantime, time to put my cowboy hat on.
Thanks to some very recent donations, the KK GoFundMe Dontation Drive is now over $8000.
Your donations will help make KK a much better place moving forward and I cannot thank you enough.
Do remember, anyone who has donated in the past and does so again, any amount over $20 will get the majority of ads removed on KK to make your browsing experience that much better.
If this is your first time donating, anything over $25 will also to the trick.
Again, thanks to all who have donated.
The latest information is we are just over 76% towards the goal of $10K.
The new design will be a big upgrade for us but understand, it will still be easy to navigate, no more down server issues and the loading of KK will be much quicker.
More information coming as we get a little deeper into the summer.
