KK Challenge: Conference Finals Showdown

It’s the next stage of KK Challenges as we search for the next hockey savant to show up and grab another $100 gift certificate to shop.NHL.com or IceJerseys.com.

This challenge is different. With some feisty teams in the Conference Finals we figure that penalty minutes might be fun to speculate about.  So here is your challenge:

What individual player from Anaheim, Buffalo, Detroit or Ottawa will have the most penalty minutes in this round?  Also, please guess the number of minutes that player will serve in case there’s a tie-breaker required.

You must be a KK member to participate. It’s free and you can register right here in a just a few minutes. Your guess must be entered on THIS POST and time-stamped no later than Thursday, May 10th- 7:00pm EDT.

Winner will be established using the stats provided at NHL.com

Good luck!

KK- Start Adding

Since my math skills are not the best, feel free to verify the total number of goals scored during the Conference Semi-Final round.
I believe we have a winner but you folks can double check just to make sure.
I have a family appointment this morning and should return by noon today and another KK Challenge will be announced this afternoon so stay tuned.

update 11:31am, 100 is what I came up with too.
The winner of the gift certificate is Puck, and I will be in contact within 24 hours.
As mentioned, another KK Challenge will be up shortly.

Who Deserves the Cup?  Contest Winners!

imageLast month’s KK Challenge to write the best argument about why your team deserves to win the Stanley Cup, produced hundreds of great entries.  Fans were clearly well-motivated by the prospect of a new NHL team jersey of their choice!

Contest entries were all judged by the crack writers at NHL.com, and we’d like to give them a big ‘thank you’ for helping out.

The surprise of the contest was that there was a tie, so TWO winners will be picking up new jerseys! One fan for the Vancouver Canucks and one fan for the Buffalo Sabres.  Both will be contacted by email this week to make arrangements to get them the jersey of their choice.

Now, please read their contributions.  And our thanks to everyone who shared their team spirit.

KK- Uh Oh

I make mistakes and thanks to a heads-up KK reader, it will now get corrected.
In the Conference Quarter-Finals KK Challenge, I stated the total goals scored was 215, even after counting it over about five times.
The KK reader sent me a quick spreadsheet, I counted and counted again and the correct goal total was 216, therefore making Tony a winner of the $50 gift certificate.
Sorry for the mistake but nothing lost, the $100 gift certificate is still up for grabs for the Conference Semi-Finals.  Good luck to everyone and belated congrats Tony!

KK Challenge - Conference Quarterfinals

Open to all KK members, if not a member, register on the left sidebar under KK sections.

Instead of telling me who will win each matchup, I need to know the total (combined) amount of goals that will be scored during the quarterfinals (all games).
Leave your answer in the comment section of this post and if more than one person guesses the correct answer, a random drawing will be held to select the winner.
If no one answers correctly, the prize will be added to the next round (a little bit of a twist from other KK Challenges).
Winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to either Shop.NHL.com or IceJerseys.com.
All entries must be timestamped by 6:00pm EDT on Wednesday, April 11, 2007.  No emails accepted, you must enter your guess in this post.

note: original post date was 4/9/07- moved to first page for more exposure…
