Kukla's Korner Hockey
I received a “SORTA MSM BLOGS” award from Greg Wyshynski at the Fourth Period.
I would like to “Sorta” thank Greg for the mention.
Make sure the read the full article, some good stuff in there!!! Even a mention of The Entertainer, Dwayne Klessel.
On that subject, the more people that ask me about him, the more I learn about Dwayne. How he continues to lie and deceive is just a shame, but one day, it will catch up with him.
from the Dallas Stars Blog at the Dallas Morning News,
Called up Mike Modano and asked him about the Eklund rumor that he might waive his no-trade clause for a chance to move somewhere else, and Modano said he has not thought about that and doesn’t plan on asking for a trade or waiving his no-trade clause.
“Yeah, I heard about that, too. It’s not true,’’ he said. “I plan on being there tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that. I’m just going to keep showing up and work myself through this.’‘
How many of these made-up rumors have come true? If you are a true fan of the game, stick to people who actually know the game!
from The Soapbox at Spector’s,
You know it’s far too quiet for NHL news when really, really dumb trade rumours make the rounds.
Heard the one about the Canucks trading Mattias Ohlund to Tampa Bay for Martin St. Louis as the centerpiece of a blockbuster deal?
My, seems like only yesterday Ohlund was headed to New Jersey in a package deal for Patrik Elias. Oh, yeah, that was last month’s dumb rumour!
Of course Ohlund and St. Louis have no-trade clauses but hey, that shouldn’t stand in the way of a juicy, over-the-top trade rumour.
Or how about Patrice Bergeron to the NY Islanders for picks and prospects. Of course, that makes perfect sense! The Bruins would be crazy not to make that deal! Action it yesterday, GM Peter Chiarelli.
Yes, I’m being sarcastic, because these rumours aren’t gonna happen.
from Spector’s Soapbox,
I realize there are other bloggers - some of them I like to consider my friends - who have legitimate issues with what he does, but that’s between them and Eklund to sort out.
I’ve publicly opted not to take sides, as I feel there’s plenty of room in cyberspace for he and I to peacefully co-exist and as long as he respects that so will I.
The only problem I’ve had with Eklund is his anonymity, which I felt was a detriment in terms of earning his peers respect, legitimacy for his work and gaining access within the ranks of the NHL media.
read on... and I am sure that is what many of the bloggers want. Address the issues Dwayne, it is time to do so.
Greg Wyshynski at the NHL Fanhouse does a very in-depth story on “Eklund”.
Because as Eklund’s popularity and influence have grown—with surging Web traffic, high-profile radio gigs and an on-air role during an NHL trade deadline television special—so have serious charges about a fraudulent biography, his lack of journalistic ethics and some online behavior that historically has gotten professional reporters fired. During our hour-long conversation, the “anonymous hockey blogger” finally began to answer to them—with some startling revelations….
One of the most controversial aspects of the Eklund legend is his biography. The background he had given to ESPN was in direct contrast with the fanciful origin story he gave FanHouse’s Eric McErlain in an early (and must-read) interview in 2005. Self-aggrandizing aside—I still love the part about having written a book that sold so well he no longer had to work full-time—the fact was that the official bio on his Web site changed significantly after he began attracting a larger audience.

via Russo’s Rants,
I know this doesn’t affect those in Minnesota, but Florida Panthers owner Alan Cohen asked me to put this on my blog regarding the Hockeybuzz.com report that he’s meeting today with a group looking to purchase the Panthers.
“I am in the front row at Saratoga today watching the races and I am not selling the Panthers now or ever.”
Geez Dwayne, what kind of spin will you put on this one?
Well Dwayne is up to it again talking about Forsberg…
I am also hearing that the Red Wings will get into this, but i have yet to hear Peter say that he would go there. However, he is tight with Lidstrom…
That’s news to me and about 99% of the Wings fans…
from Nicklas Lidstrom,
Peter and I aren’t really close. I’m a few years older than he is, and we only played together on the national teams. So we haven’t really played together in the Swedish League before I turned pro.
Geez Dwayne, make up something you can’t be called out on!!!
Geez, I leave the computer for an hour and have about 30 emails asking me about this from Dwayne…
According to a source, the Preds have entered into a letter of intent with a local group in Nashville to have the negotiation rights to buy the Preds…
Not true folks, could be down the road but not true at this time… One more things folks, you won’t find that written on his blog, because he deleted it. No, I can’t believe that…ha!
added 5:26pm, from the Tennessean,
The result of today’s meeting is that Nashville has the opportunity to move very quickly to retain the Predators and to do so under local ownership,” said David Freeman, chief executive officer of 36 Venture Capital LLC and one of the coalition leaders.
“While we have not yet signed a purchase agreement, our discussions were very encouraging for Nashville if we can move quickly and decisively to ensure the club’s long-term financial stability.”
I know there a few bloggers, myself included, hoping for a face to face with Dwayne in a few days.
Another example of what he is all about when it comes to hockey bloggers.
If you are not aware of what Dwayne has done in the past, just check the “Filed in:” below this post…
Look. I’m biased. Biased for Chelios? No. I think what he did was wrong, and I think he should have shook hands...even with Pronger, Niedermayer and that punk Perry. I’m biased against Dwayne Klessel, his self promotion, and the crap he continues to spew. His comment, “we’ve had our disagreements” is a prime example. Want more? Let me remind you. He’s claimed affilitation with NHL teams, the league itself...all false, and all to lure money from the simple minded.... On too many occasions Klessel has attempted to speak for the rest of us, behind the anonymity of a made-up name “for his own protection.” Another crock.
