All Selanne

Teemu Selanne took part in an NHL tele-conference today…

Q. Thanks for being on with us today. I’m wondering if you ever remember when you look at the eight teams right now that are in the playoff spots in the Western Conference, if you can ever remember where all eight teams, they all have a good shot at going to the final.
TEEMU SELANNE: You know, you never know what’s going to happen in the Playoffs, and when you play so many times against one team, anything is possible. That’s why Playoffs are so important and exciting.
But I think all eight teams have a really good shot. I don’t think there’s one that is more of a favorite than others. It’s going to be an interesting race.

All Teemu

from USA TODAY,

Teemu Selanne’s second tour with the Anaheim Ducks has revitalized the Finnish Flash’s career. He just passed last season’s 40-goal mark and is on pace to have his best scoring season since 1998-99.
Many projected before the season that the Pacific Division would be one of the toughest in the league. Talk about how difficult it has been night in and night out.
Selanne: It’s hard. That’s what makes things interesting. You don’t know what’s going to happen on any given night. There are so many good teams and that’s making it exciting. You have to make sure you show up. It’s a must-win (situation) for everybody.

The Goalie Fights

from the OC Register,

The testosterone was balled up and flying now, not unlike the fists were all around him.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere, seeing each of his five teammates paired with an opponent and attempting to rid those opponents of their molars, suddenly challenged the goalie watching from the opposite end of the ice.
“I started it,” Giguere says, “but it didn’t work out too good for me.”
How is that?
“I ended up getting my butt kicked,” he says.

Expect A Battle Today

from the OC Register,

Uh-oh.
There must still be bad blood between the Nashville Predators and Ducks, who would be the top two seeds in the Western Conference if the Stanley Cup playoffs began today.
No, not because Nashville coach Barry Trotz accused the Ducks of taking “cheap shots” in the closing minutes of the Predators’ 3-0 victory on Feb. 3 in Nashville and promised his players would have “long memories.”
