13th in the East - How Can You Blame Him?

Adam Proteau of The Hockey News, one of the best in the business, predicted on Thursday that the New York Rangers would finish 13th in the Eastern Conference.
He said the following:
Ah, the Rangers – a franchise I’m regularly accused of loathing. It isn’t true, but that doesn’t mean I can convince myself a team that brought in notorious non-difference-makers Alexander Frolov and Derek Boogaard will somehow have its fortunes boosted by them. Martin Biron is an upgrade behind Henrik Lundqvist; what isn’t clear at all is whether a team that was softer than melted pudding last year has suddenly grown a heart.
Obviously, not a very favorable take on the Blueshirts. While he pointed out that the Biron signing was a positive, everything else he said was negative.
It is easy to accuse Proteau and the publication of hating the Rangers, but what else did he have to work with? Given the team’s recent history, it’s easy to see what Proteau was basing his prediction off of.

Mike Ross of NHL Home Ice: Spreading the Word About Hockey
by Patrick Hoffman on 12/11/08 at 01:00 PM ET

As we all know, hockey is a fledgling sport in the U.S. It doesn’t get the coverage it deserves and when it does press, it’s usually for something negative (ahem, Sean Avery).
However, one radio channel/network that steps up when it comes to hockey coverage is XM’s NHL Home Ice Channel. Day in and day out, the channel provides great hockey content to fans all over the world and always has them coming back for more.
Recently, I had the opportunity to do an e-mail interview with one of the channel’s hosts and producers, Mike Ross. “Rossy” tells us about how he fell in love with the game, how he got involved in hockey radio, the channel’s future, this season’s surprises/disappointments and of course, his Stanley Cup predicition.
