A Look Back at The RDO Camp with Terry Mercury of NHL Home Ice

As we all know by now, last week, the NHL held its 2011 RDO camp in Toronto. At the camp, potential rule changes were discussed/demonstrated and members of the league’s brass all had opinions about it.

Stopping by here today to discuss what went on at the camp is Terry Mercury of NHL Home Ice. Terry was lucky enough to be at the camp last week and was kind enough to share his thoughts on it:

PH: Going into the 2011 RDO camp, what were you most looking forward to seeing? Why?
TM: I really wanted to see and hear what hockey people thought about possible changes to overtime…in order to eventually do away with the shootout. 4-on-4 for 4 minutes…and then 3-on-3 for three minutes is a great idea…and it seemed to have a lot of support.

PH: Which potential rule changes that were experimented with do you think could be implemented into the NHL in the near future? Why?
TM: The shallower net and the green verification line could be incorporated very soon. In fact…I think both could be on-line by the 2012-2013 season.
