According to Jesse Spector of The Daily News, Mats Zuccarello will be a healthy scratch this afternoon when the New York Rangers take on the Boston Bruins.
Replacing him will be Sean Avery, who has been a healthy scratch the last few games:
Mats Zuccarello will be a healthy scratch after sitting the entire third period on Thursday night, then playing just 26 seconds of overtime before missing his shootout attempt. Matt Gilroy also sits out today, his second straight healthy scratch.
This is the first healthy scratch of Zuccarello’s NHL career. The Norwegian rookie has played 40 straight games since making his debut on December 23 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s the fourth time Gilroy has been a healthy scratch in the last six games after playing 30 consecutive games.
