I am just sitting down watching the third period in game 7 between the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning and I am starting to wonder the following: if I am the Vancouver Canucks, who do I want to play in the Stanley Cup Finals?
There are good reasons to want to play against both teams. For example, the Canucks may want to play against the Bruins because their playmaking ability will be able to put the puck past Bruins’ goaltender Tim Thomas. Thomas can be a very aggressive goaltender and if he comes too far out of his crease against the Canucks, the likes of the Sedin Twins, Kesler, Burrows, Raymond, Bieksa, and others will find a way to get the puck to the net and in the net.
With that said, the Canucks may also want to play the Lightning because they are a far less physical team than the Bruins. The Bruins like to hit and hit hard while the Lightning prefer to play a skill-type of hockey game.
There are also reasons why the Canucks would not want to play against either of these teams. Starting with the Bruins, I am sure that the Sedin twins do not want to play against someone like Zdeno Chara. Chara will tower over them and make sure that they are nowhere near the net.
On the other hand, when looking at the Lightning, the Canucks may not want to play them because they have the likes of Stamkos, Lecavalier, St. Louis, Hedman, Downie, etc. The Lightning would certainly find ways to put the puck past Canucks’ goaltender Roberto Luongo.
So, with that in mind, if you are a Canucks’ fan, who do you want to see your team face-off against in the Stanley Cup Finals?
