That is what everyone from fans and media members in the hockey world are wondering as the Stanley Cup Final goes to Game 4 tomorrow night in Beantown.
Last night was obviously a whomping by the Boston Bruins over the Vancouver Canucks. With that said, one has to wonder if this was simply a case of the Bruins winning just one game in the series and then the Canucks winning the series in five.
On the other hand, one has to wonder if the Bruins have finally woken up and are playing the way they are used to playing and that is by forechecking, going hard to the net and being physical. The Bruins have been successful with that kind of hockey all postseason long.
The Bruins are now also playing for one of their own, Nathan Horton. Horton suffered a severe concussion after getting hit in the head by Canucks’ defenseman Aaron Rome and the organization found out today that Horton will be gone for the rest of the series. The Bruins will certainly use that as motivation going forward in the series.
On the other side, you have the Canucks who will be without Rome for the rest of the series, are dealing with another injured defenseman in Dan Hamhuis and are a team that allowed 8 goals last night. Yes, the Canucks fired 41 shots on Bruins’ netminder Tim Thomas but were only able to break through once. Obviously, there were a lot more negatives than positives last night for the Canucks.
So, what does this all mean for Game 4? For one thing, it means that the Bruins may come out even harder than they did last night.
Secondly, it means that this will be a response game for the Canucks. That means a better response from the offense, a better game from the defense and of course, a bounce back effort from Vezina Trophy finalist Roberto Luongo.
With all of that said, we may have a barn burner on our hands tomorrow night in Beantown. Who do you have to win?
