Vezina Trophy Well-Earned for Lundqvist

It has been a long time coming but New York Rangers’ goaltender Henrik Lundqvist finally won the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top netminder in the regular season.

Lundqvist had also been nominated for the award back in 2006, 2007 and 2008 but never came home with the prize. It is the Rangers’ first Vezina Trophy winner since John Vanbiesbrouck won it back in 1986.

There is no doubt that Henrik deserved to win it this year. He was everything and more to the Rangers, was in the top 10 of many of the goaltending categories and really was the best goaltender in the league.

Hopefully, this will not be the only piece of hardware that Lundqvist wins while with the Blueshirts.

Here is more from NHL.com and the team’s web site.
