Tweaking the Rangers’ first line

It might only be two games into the season but New York Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella might need to figure out a way to get his number one line clicking on all cylinders.

Through the first two games, Rangers’ forwards Marian Gaborik (1 assist) and Brad Richards (1 goal and 1 assist) have combined for just two points. While it certainly is not terrible, it is worth noting that the pair of extremely talented forwards is expected to produce in bunches this season.

So, what does the team need to do to get their line going? For starters, they should consider giving a shot:

- Derek Stepan: Stepan is someone who has the ability to put the puck in the net, forecheck hard and make offensive plays. Could be a great way for Stepan to establish himself as one of the club’s best wingers.

- Ruslan Fedotenko: It would be interesting to see what Fedotenko could do with two elite offense players. Fedotenko has plenty of offensive ability and is a terrific grinder who can forecheck and get the puck to his linemates.

- Mats Zuccarello: He may be small and not have a ton of NHL experience but his offensive ability and hustle is certainly intriguing.

This could all be moot if Wolski returns healthy and shows that he can play with the big guns.

What do you think Tortorella should do to the first line to get them going once the team is back in action this Saturday on Long Island against the Islanders?

Wouldn’t that mean that they combined for 3 points? Lol

Technically no, Richards got his goal on the third line, so he really didn’t get that point with Gaborik.  But even 3 points for a top line in 2 games ain’t much.

I want to see Stepan first.  Let’s see irf th kid can put up another hat trick here, and produce some points for this line!!!
That way the Dubi-Artie-Cally line can get back to last years production!!!
Boyle-Prust had great chemistry last year, and provided lots of energy.

Let’s remember its just the start of the season. The weekend couldn’t come fast enough.

Let’s Go Rangers!!!

They need a more offensive defenseman.  Souray would have helped.  The forwards need some help from the back.
