Some Quick Observations

As I am writing this blog, the New York Rangers are up 4-2 on the St. Louis Blues after two periods in their first game of the Traverse City Prospects Tournament.
Thus far, the team has gotten some excellent play from the likes of Ryan Bourque, Tim Erixon, Carl Hagelin, Dylan McIlrath and others. The Blueshirts have shown poise with the puck, have not been afraid to put pucks on net, have shown a lot of speed and overall, look like they have been together for awhile.
The amount of speed the team’s prospects have is amazing. It has helped create several scoring chances and as also helped getting back on the defensive end of the puck has well.
It is quite clear that Bourque wants a shot to play in the NHL. He has shown tremendous speed, excellent vision as well as an ability to put the puck in the net like he did when he scored a shorthanded goal to put the Rangers up 4-2 in the second period.
It was also nice to hear John Davidson in the booth with John Giannone and Joe Micheletti. It is apparent that Davidson could still be one of the league’s top analysts as he knows the game inside and out and just knows how to explain it to the fans that are watching it.
What are your thoughts?

How hard is it to get a ticket to see the prospects? I’m going to be in Traverse City Tuesday.

Nice to see a mention of Carl Hagelin, whom I followed when he played for Michigan.

John Davidson is/was the greatest commentator on the air. Mickey Redmond is second.
Borque looks like he is going to be a special player to watch. He really seems to have a nose for the net and isn’t afraid to drive the net.
