As always, it is a pleasure for me to bring you the latest e-mail interviews I have done whether it is with a hockey writer, analyst, blogger, author or radio host.
Today, I’d like to bring you the latter as Scott Laughlin, host of “Power Play from Wayne Gretzky’s” on NHL Home Ice was kind enough to take time out of his very busy schedule to give us his thoughts on the NHL at the All-Star break from general thoughts, surprising teams in the Eastern and Western Conference, and what NHL Home Ice listeners can look forward to as the league heads towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
PH: We are just past the half way point of the 2010-11 NHL season. What are some of your general thoughts?
SL: The Western Conference continues to intrigue me with all of the teams within striking distance of a playoff berth. Also, interested to specifically see whether or not Los Angeles and San Jose can be all we think in the stretch run and what they may or may not do at the deadline.
PH: Going forward, which team/player do you think will end up surprising many with their second half performance? Why?
SL: Ilya Kovalchuk…because you know it’s there, but will it emerge?
PH: Going forward, which team/player do you think could end up disappointing many with their second half performance? Why?
SL: I’ll only say Tim Thomas because he’s been so extremely impressive that there’s likely nowhere to go but down. How can he possibly keep up this pace?
PH: What can listeners look forward to on NHL Home Ice as the season pushes towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs?
SL: We’re all looking forward to Trade Deadline Day and we’ll have complete coverage all-day long of course. Let’s hope for a lot to talk about.
PH: Any other thoughts you’d like to share with Kukla’s Korner readers?
SL: Enjoy the stretch run. The next couple of months should be fun!
