The New York Rangers have picked up right where they left off against the Montreal Canadiens and have stormed out to a 3-1 lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning after the first period. The team got goals from Brandon Dubinsky, Vinny Prospal and Chris Drury and hopefully, their strong play will carry over into the second period.
Again folks, every point is crucial as each team (with the exception of a few) begins their march towards the Stanley Cup playoffs. As long as the Blueshirts continue to pick up points, they should be in good position come April.
May be I’ll be back with more after the second period but if I’m not, here’s hoping that the team continues to pile on the offense.
Well, the Blueshirts certainly piled on the offense and scored five more goals to rout the Lightning 8-2. What’s even more surprising is that there were eight different goal scorers: Dubinsky, Prospal, Drury, Dan Girardi, Enver Lisin, Marc Staal and Aaron Voros. Talk about contributions up and down the lineup.
For the Blueshirts, that’s now 14 goals in the team’s last two games - this for a team that got shutout not once, but twice last week against the New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators. Obviously, this is certainly a welcome change for the team.
The team will be back at it again on Thursday night in Philadelphia to take on the Flyers at the Wachovia Center. Much like the Rangers, the Flyers are battling for a playoff position in the Eastern Conference so it should be a good one!
