Questions for Blueshirt Fans

As we head into the month of August, I figured now was as good a time as any to ask my Ranger fan readers out there their thoughts on the following questions:
- Is the Alexander Frolov signing a good one or bad one? Why?
- Where do you see Frolov fitting into the lineup? Why?
- With the Frolov signing, could the team really go ahead and demote Wade Redden?
- How will Frolov signing be different from when the team signed Nikolai Zherdev in the off-season of 2008?
- What other moves should the team look into making in order to make themselves better for next season?
I know this isn’t a lot but I want to hear your thoughts!

Frolov is an excellent signing. This guy has been waiting for someone to care about him for awhile. He was getting screwed in LA and clearly didn’t want to play there, hence the shows-up-only-half-the-time criticism. He is in a place now where he will get big minutes, probably with Gaborik and on the PP. Watch his highlight reel and you’ll see a vulture swooping in on his prey. He will put in a lot of Gaborik’s rebounds and garner a lot of attention with his puck possession game. He might have a career year in NY (30+ goals is feasible, but a slight stretch) with more ice time and a bigger role. At 3mil/1yr its a great sign when you consider the state of the Rangers.
The only thing I do not like about the Frolov signing is that it gives the Rangers too many forwards. I’d look for Glen Sather to trade away a forward, but after assessing the roster it doesn’t seem like he can move anyone. Look for Boyle to be in the AHL this year. Redden is as expendable as they come. He is worth nothing and should be demoted unless after the Staal re-sign there is money available (which is highly unlikely).
Frolov is not Zherdev! I understand the similarities, but come on, look at the context.
Z was given a massive opportunity and didn’t show up everynight then requested way more $$$ than he was worth.
Frolov was having his talents squandered in LA and didn’t show up everynight, but is now given to opportunity to play big minutes with a top 10 forward at the world’s most famous arena. He has found the attention he needs.

Frolov is a great addition. They need to beef up the Blue line. Andy Sutton available. Need to focus on Girardi Staal Del Zotto and replace the rest. Andy Sutton would help. Semenov would have been good fit last year. They need some defensive defensemen with size.
