Not Just Yet for Ryan McDonagh

According to Peter Botte of the Daily News, recently called up defenseman Ryan McDonagh will not play for the New York Rangers tomorrow night against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Defenseman Ryan McDonagh, who was recalled from Connecticut to replace demoted Michael Del Zotto, also took part in practice. He isn’t slated to play against the Hurricanes, with Tortorella again praising Matt Gilroy for working his way back into the Rangers’ top-six.
Don’t worry folks. I have a feeling that Tortorella will get McDonagh in the lineup very soon but right now, the team has a solid defense in Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, Michal Rozsival, Matt Gilroy, Michael Sauer and Steve Eminger. With that in mind, there is no need to rush McDonagh into a game right now.
Botte also reported that Fedotenko is good to go for tomorrow night after hurting his hand blocking a Bryan McCabe slap shot on Sunday night against the Panthers.
Fedotenko has been a solid player for the Blueshirts this season. He works hard, generates scoring chances, plays well on both sides of the puck and contributes points every once in awhile. Tortorella said as much to Botte:
“He was much better today, and I’m sure he’ll be much better tomorrow,” John Tortorella said. “He’s been just a great signing as far as what we signed him for. He’s grown into a guy we use in all situations. We’ve lost some people this year…I’ve been able to move Feds into top line situations. And Boyle’s line has been one of our top lines this year, and he plays on it. He’s been a big part to our team this year.”
Hopefully, Fedotenko’s line and the rest of the Rangers’ lineup will be able to put the puck in the net more than they did this weekend.
