From New York Rangers’ beat writer Jesse Spector via Twitter:
Staal was cut by Girardi’s stick on the play where Staal got called for high-sticking. Other than that, he didn’t indicate any problems.
No idea what happened to Staal… he did miss his last shift of the Montreal game.
#NYR D-pairs: McDonagh-Sauer, Eminger-Girardi, McCabe-Gilroy ... Lundqvist in net.
#NYR lines: Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan, Prospal-Christensen-Gaborik, Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust, Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello
When asked if Staal was just out today, or long term, Torts just said “body injury.”Staal has a “body injury.” That’s all Torts would say. Avery a healthy scratch for #NYR
Lundqvist in, Staal out.
Definitely great news for the Blueshirts that Lundqvist will be between the pipes but not great news about Staal missing the game. It should be a dandy this afternoon in Pittsburgh!
