From David Kolb at MaxHockey.com:
The Biron signing tells you nothing about Dipietro’s current or future status, but the decision to bring Biron in after already signing Dwayne Roloson on July 1 simply reflects DiPietro’s track record.
What Islander fans should really take from this signing is that their g.m., Garth Snow both runs the team, and is doing a heck-of-a job doing it.With $1.4 million dollars he made a bold statement.
No longer are the Islanders going to hope their franchise player can carry them, nor will they hold out hope for DiPietro to be a team leader. As a matter of fact, the Isles and fans alike can now enter the 2009-2010 season not even thinking about the whereabouts of the wandering netminder. I mean for God’s sake, a Roloson-Biron tandem is more than adequate for not only cellar dwellers, but for a top quality NHL team as well.
Click here for more on Rick DiPietro and the New York Islanders. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out come October.
