No no, this quick blog update isn’t going to be about what you think it might be.
Instead, I will give you a glimpse of what I will be doing tonight and that’s covering my first American Hockey League game between the Hartford Wolf Pack (New York Rangers) and Springfield Falcons (Edmonton Oilers).
I will be covering the game for the Wolf Pack’s web site, filling in for Bruce Berlet, formerly a veteran beat reporter for the Hartford Courant and now the team’s web site reporter.
Having attended over 225 National Hockey games, this will be a nice change as it will be my first time at an AHL game. It’ll be great to watch Blueshirt prospects such as Bobby Sanguinetti, Artem Anisimov, Dale Weise and Lauri Korpikoski, who actually started the season with the big club but was sent down so he could get more playing time.
While there’s nothing like being in the press box at an NHL arena (I have covered 10 games from the Madison Square Garden press box for Hokeja Vestnesis), hockey is hockey and I’m looking forward to seeing an entertaining matchup.
Since I’ll be busy covering the Wolf Pack game, please feel free to keep me posted on how the New York Rangers are doing against the Washington Capitals, as they look to pick up their 12th victory of the season and keep pace with the San Jose Sharks, who are currently hold the first spot in the National Hockey League.
