All About Two Points

The New York Rangers hope to extend their win streak to three tonight when they take on the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.
The Blueshirts are coming off an impressive 3-1 win last night over the Anaheim Ducks, getting goals from Chris Drury, Nigel Dawes and Nikolai Zherdev. The team also got another strong performance from their goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who stopped 19 of 20 shots.
It doesn’t appear that the whole Mats Sundin situation is a distraction to the team as all they are focused on is winning.
“I haven’t really talked to the guys too much about it,” Rangers’ head coach Tom Renney told Newsday’s Steve Zipay. “I don’t really sense it at all, but it wouldn’t surprise me. We’ve just got to concentrate on playing well. It’s not in our control at this point.”
Regarding Sundin, Steve Zipay posted in his blog that Sundin is still weighing his options and that he’s looking at a lot of different things before making his final decision. Same old, same old.
Back to tonight’s action as Steve Valiquette will be in goal tonight. His last start was a week ago in Atlanta when he picked up a 3-2 overtime victory in stopping 27 Thrasher shots. This will give Lundqvist plenty of time to rest before Saturday night’s matchup with the mighty San Jose Sharks.
Here’s hoping that the Rangers will pickup another two points.
