Good evening folks. Sorry I wasn’t around today but I was busy at one of my part-time/freelance jobs.
I’m sure you didn’t miss me too much since there wasn’t exactly much to say after last night’s loss to the New York Islanders. The team was absolutely dreadful and showed the Isles no respect. In the “new” NHL, anyone can beat anybody so the Blueshirts should not exclude themselves from that.
Both teams are back at it again tonight with a new wrinkle for the Blueshirts: both Ales Kotalik and Wade Redden are healthy scratches. Kotalik has been inconsistent, at best, while Redden has been horrible since joining the Blueshirts in the summer of 2008.
According to Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants, Rangers’ head coach John Tortorella had the following to say regarding Kotalik and Redden:
“The guys that are out has to do with their play,” coach John Tortorella said. “It’s never over one game but it has to do with their play.”
If that’s the case, this should have been done a long time ago and may be players such as Chris Drury, Michal Roszival and others should have been benched for their poor play.
In that same blog, Gross went on to say the following:
Neither Redden nor Kotalik said they have any sense as to whether they’re serving a one-game punishment or they’re out of the lineup for the foreseeable future. “I guess we’ll see Saturday,” said Redden of Saturday’s game at Philadelphia. “I guess you have to ask him.”
We’ll see if this does anything and if the Rangers can pull one out. According to Seth Rothman of Inside Hockey, he confirmed with New York-based radio station WFAN that two of its personalities, Craig Carton and Boomer Esiason, heard from a reliable source at the Garden last night that if the Blueshirts lose tonight, general manager Glen Sather is as good as gone.
I wonder if that’s just wishful thinking. What are your thoughts?
