All Things Flaming C

As my Fantasy Teams continue to flourish, I have to admit that I perpetuate parity by allowing others to load up on Calgary Flames. As the mirth of their depth is exemplified by their handling of injuries, one soldier goes down, another returns. Scoreface Glencross is now out for 6 weeks with a Lower/Upper Knee injury; but alas, Stajan and BMo are healthy as a Flaming Horse. Furthermore, steady D-Man Scott Hannan is back with his innocuous play.
Everyone enjoyed the animated and delightful facial contortions of former GM and Coach Darryl Sutter in his return to Calgary recently, though the 4-1 loss left a bitter taste with the home faithful. Revenge was sweet with their 2-1 shootout victory in LA-LA Land with Cammy’s decisive snipe. As the vets return to health, the Horak’s and Byron’s are not in the lineup but will be walking with their Flaming C brethren in the near future. Lance Romance Bouma is still playing and at 21 is only going to gain invaluable experience with the his stud teammates. As Team Alberta came out of California with 3 of 4 possible points, their next stop was the even scarier venue of Edmonton, though clearly the street level risks far outweigh the woeful Oiler challenge. At the risk of offending the haters of insulting commentary, I will simply say that the Flames are far superior, even without getting 17 straight higher-end draft picks that Coiler Nation cherish to no end. Kudos to the Scouting Department in 780 for continually beating the Flames to the podium.
With their convincing 6-2 drubbing in the bag, the Flamed C have won 9 in a row, and 16 of 17 versus their provincial foes. Lee-Stemp was the hero with a fedora-styled hatty and 4 points. Jay-Bo and Blake ‘Combover’ Comeau had 3 points each. The fella’s confidence is starting to come around. With a slow couple weeks ahead, two huge games are on the horizon. The Sharks come to town looking for a beat down on the 24th, and the grizzled and solid Red Wings are in for a visit a week later on the 31st. Of course the All-Star Shinny contest has it’s gala player draft on the 26th, and the game is the 29th. Let’s all give Jarome a little love and pray he doesn’t get concussed, though clearly concussions aren’t an epidemic.
It’s been a rollercoaster of fun through 49 games and the team that Doc, Harley and Friends built is in a real playoff battle. We can only hope that B-Sutz and J-Feast can find a level of successful consistency within their roster juggling that will lead us to the promised land. I’d certainly take a 1st round exit over never getting a chance to take someone home from the prom…..
