If anything can reverse the ailing media of erectdile dysfunction, it’s the sale of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here’s how I would handle such a big sports story- Leafs sold to Bell-Rogers. Expect same on-ice product. In other news, the Flames of Calgary are dominating out west. It must be the center of the Canadian universe that dictates the importance we put on various constitutions, and today was another fine example. Does anyone recall when Jeff Vinik purchased the T.B. Lightning from the Saw franchise owner Oren Koules and Len Barrie? One line at the bottom of the ticker. The only ownership worthy story is when the plucky owners of Ice Edge finally make their emergence known to the NHL ownership secret society…now on the more important issues.
The Flames are 5-1-1 in their past 7 games. They have reached the .500 mark once again, regardless of the haters predictions, and are screaming up the standings. A mere 3 points out of the playoffs at present, the Flambeau are doing it with smoke and mirrors. Super swashbuckler Mark Giordano is possibly gone for the season, Henrik Karlsson is out for 2 months, David Moss is out with a LBI, and the team is surging. Let’s give out some praise. BMo Morrison has 6 points in the past 2 games. WTF? 4 came in the defensively inept effort against the Carolina Hurricanes in a 7-6 triumph.(Editor’s note-This same road weary team went on the defeat the Northern brethren 5-3 the next night.) Mo had another 2 deft helpers with the Flames 9th straight win over Colorado, 3-2 last evening. Kudos. Blake Comeau? Cava bien. Blake has excelled far more than expected and has logged heavy minutes and laid some big hits while earning 4 points thru his first 8 games in a Flames unitard. Pleasant surprise. Miikka Kiprusoff has been his steady, magnificent self and will probably play just as much or more with his regular backup out. Leland Irving has been outstanding in the AHL thus far and will hopefully get a much deserved shot between the pipes. Anyone remember Wally Pipp? Olli Jokinen leads the crispy C in points. Really! The much maligned and handsomely coiffed Finn has been solid and effective in 2011. While he may never reach the 40 goal plateau of the days of yore, he’s contributing to a more successful on ice product. KUTGW-Finnish for keep up the good work.Brent Sutter has been as grumpy faced as ever. He called a timeout when losing, the team came back and won. He calls out the Magnanimous One- Jarome, every 3 months. The team has started their mid season ascension a few weeks earlier than last season. Good job B-Sutz, we love that adorable smile.
Harvey the Hound. One can’t forget that he is the greatest mascot in the NHL. His passion for entertaining the revellers has no boundaries. While the Flames may be accused of boring play at times…(pause for effect)...the canine clown will not sit idly and lick himself. Good job Harvey, if there was a Mascot Hall of Fame, which coincidentally there is, you deserve to be there.
While one realizes it’s a short walk from the penthouse to the Rexall Center, it’s always nice to have your hometown heroes excel as per the plan. The Flames play the Oil Saturday on HNIC and a win would put them ahead in the standing, barring a point for le Coil versus Colorado tonight.
GM J-Feast has quashed all rumors of Jarome’s departure in a recent press conference. As I sit in my basement in my underwear, I appreciate his honesty. It’s nice to see the fire in his eyes when defending his scintillating superstar. I don’t know where these blogger idiots come up with their material….
Shooting for the Stars:
P.S. Scoreface Glencross is having his jersey retired in Brooks this weekend. Plug nose, wave to fans, exhale. Congrats.
P.S.S. Flames fans voted best fans in league thus far in Angus Reid poll for 2011. Also, blogger pleads guilty to fabricating facts in recent Kangaroo Court.
P.S.S. Horak assigned to Abbotsford. Team is that deep.
