Star players returning from injury should provide an added boost to playoff-bound fantasy teams. We all know of one particular notable player who will be returning on Thursday, but there are more names that you need to be aware of, especially if you’ve been stashing players on IR. To accommodate those players, picks for both Thursday and Friday are included. With the Wednesday news of one more player making an earlier-than-expected return, I’ll be breaking the rules a little by making this article a Pick Six plus one.

The season is only two and a half weeks old, yet in the words of Gary Bettman, we have a trade to announce. Like they have so many times before, the Canucks and Panthers hooked up for a four-player deal that sends David Booth, Steve Reinprecht, and a third-round pick to Vancouver, with Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm heading to Florida.
Does this deal mean anything to fantasy leaguers? Of course it does, not only for the parties involved but also the players around them.

Tuesday is the next busy day on the NHL schedule, with ten games on tap. Since all teams have played at least three games, we can finally see the early blueprints of our season. There are some interesting names at the top of the NHL scoring race (David Legwand, anyone?), but players like the Sedins and Anze Kopitar are no strangers to the top ten in scoring. Since I am concentrating on players that are starting the season quickly, there will not be any sits for Tuesday’s Pick Six – only starts.

Pick Six: Sunday October 9/Monday October 10

The people of Winnipeg have a lot to be thankful for this weekend. Not only is Thanksgiving (in Canada) on Monday, but also the Jets take the ice for the first time in 15 years. Although the Jets are not an expansion team, they are not that far off, having assumed the identity of an Atlanta Thrashers team that has struggled mightily in its ten-year existence. But that will hardly matter on Sunday, when the Jets make their return official against the Montreal Canadiens, a game that promises high television ratings across Canada.
So what can we expect fantasy-wise from the Jets? In my Pick Six (which covers Sunday, Monday, and weekly picks), I’ll examine a couple Jets who will attract attention on Sunday.
