Martin Brodeur Sprains Ankle During Win Against Rangers

“I’m playing tomorrow. Marty looked like he had some discomfort during the game. I don’t know if he’s good to go or not, but I’m told to play,” Hedberg said.“I’m playing tomorrow. Marty looked like he had some discomfort during the game. I don’t know if he’s good to go or not, but I’m told to play,” Hedberg said to Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger.

Pete DeBoer wasn’t as sure as Hedberg though.

“We haven’t made that decision yet,” DeBoer said. “We’ll talk to (Brodeur) tomorrow morning and we’ll make that call. That’s the plan. I don’t foresee why he couldn’t. I’m not concerned. He had a lot of work last night. He had a pretty taxing game. So we’re giving him the day off. I don’t foresee his injury keeping him out.”

Devils and Rangers Start Game Off With A Bang

Just two seconds after the puck dropped, Cam Janssen and Eric Boulton of the Devils and Mike Rupp and Brandon Prust decided to put on a show simultaneously for the crowd at Madison Square Garden that night. Both combatants dropped their gloves and decided to duke it out for a little while. The video can be seen here.

Foster - Australian for beer, or maybe just goal

After being benched by Head Coach Pete DeBoer a game before against Montreal, Kurtis Foster came out to play against the Philadelphia Flyers with a chip on his shoulder. He responded the only way that anyone could think of when trying to come up with a solution on how to impress their coach: produce. Foster netted a pair of power-play goals, one in the first and one in the second. Alexei Ponikarovsky would eventually be credited with the game winning goal in the Devils 6-4 defeat of the Flyers.

Henrique Battling Injury; Clarkson Having Memorable Year

Per Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger

“Devils rookie Adam Henrique remains sidleined with a groin injury and did not practice again today.”

The Devils have missed Henrique the past few games, as he has been on of the driving forces offensively behind Patrik Elias (who is expected to play Thursday), Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk.

Martin Brodeur will get the start on Thursday against the Montreal Canadians. It will be his seventh start in a row.

Is Zach Parise On His Way Out Of New Jersey?

From The Fourth Period:

The Devils, who need to meet payroll twice a month until the end of regular season, are considering trading team captain Zach Parise for draft picks.

Parise is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and the team’s reported financial woes could put the Devils in a tough situation as to whether they can or are even able to re-sign him.

The 27-year-old is earning a $6 million cap hit this season and his value is only expected to go up as he has posted 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points in 47 games this season.

New Jersey Devils To Face Tough Task Against Bruins; Kovalchuk Heating Up On The Ice

The Bruins came to the Prudential Center about two weeks ago and unloaded every container of ammunition they seemed to have on them. The Devils were embarrassed on their home ice with the game finishing a very lopsided 6-1. In that game, the Devils were careless with the puck, forgot how to backcheck and never had their legs underneath them after the horn sounded to end the first period. With so many holes to try to plug, the Bruins walked all over the Devils and Martin Brodeur, who had a forgetful outing.

How Good Is Adam Henrique?

For the time being forget Patrik Elias, Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise. Year in and year out, Devils fans expect these three individuals to perform to the best of their abilities every game. Their season point totals should always hover above 80 points, and if they don’t, we all have something to say. However, there has been someone added to the team this year who has exceeded almost everyones expectations, and his name is Adam Henrique.

A Breath Of Fresh Air - Devils Turning Things Around Nicely

I suppose it took a 6-1 trouncing by the Boston Bruins for the Devils to finally open their eyes. Over these past couple of games, the Devils have been playing a dominant style of hockey consisting of three equal parts: strong offense, shut-down defense and solid goaltending.

The Devils have defeated the Florida Panthers (5-2) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-1) in back-to-back games and have shown no sign of wear and tear.

A Mild Mannered Rant

As a blogger for the New Jersey Devils, it is easy enough to try to find the good in a bad game. It is easy to pick out the moments that allow you to hang your hat on them, and come back a few nights later, parked in front of the TV, to watch again. Every fan does it. The problem I am currently facing is what happens when you run out of patience for the things that never seem to change.

No Suspension For Devils’ Carter

Devils center Ryan Carter has learned that there will be no disciplinary action taken after his hit against Carolina’s Jaroslav Spacek. During the play, Carter was issued a five-minute boarding major and a game misconduct.

You can watch the hit here. Sorry for the crappy video, but you can still get the jist of it.

I am very surprised that nothing will come of this hit. As soon as it happened I had already come up with it being about a two game suspension.

You can read Carter’s thoughts after the jump.

About Devil's Advocate

I am an all around NHL fan. I love to watch Atlantic Division, and root for the Philadelphia Flyers. Just because I cheer for the Flyers, doesn’t mean I don’t keep up with the other teams in the division, specifically the New Jersey Devils. Devils Advocate will provide you with the most important Devils news, filled with my opinion about the selected topic.

Like what you read? Hated it? Have something else you want to read about? Let me know, I always like to hear from my readers and what they want to see.
