Today marks a fresh start for many people around the hockey world, as it kicks off the start of the NHL pre-season. Cluster Pucks now also has it’s very own page here on KK, which is something I’ve been waiting for since I joined the wonderful and talented crew of bloggers here. Although, the puck has already dropped on a few leagues that this blog covers. Two thirds of the CHL regular season are underway, as the WHL and QMJHL have already begun play. The OHL will start in a few days on Wednesday. Plus the EASHL for this year got kicked off on September 13th when the NHL 12 was released in North America.
So where do I begin first?
I suppose I could start with the current WHL standings, although it’s still early, so these are almost meaningless right now.
Note: As I figured, trying to simply paste over the standings was a formatting nightmare. I’ll try to figure out something over the week that will work and not be super-time consuming.
So for the time being, for this post, I’ll just have to provide you with links, which I hate doing, as I’d rather have it all right here in the blog, as I said, I’ll try and figure this all out over the next week, so that when I do these updates, it all looks smooth and makes sense. The following are all links to the WHL’s official website.
Now to move on to the current standings and leaders in the QMJHL.
Current league standings in the Q, courtesy of the QMJHL’s official website.
Again, I apologize for the links, as I’d like to have all of this stuff directly in the blog, but I’ll figure it out by next week, I promise.
The OHL starts play on Wednesday, and NCAA hockey starts early next month. Expect these sort of league standings and leaders updates each Monday, except next week I’ll do better than stupid looking links, and I’ll have the info directly in the blog post. I’ll do my best to keep an eye on any major stories and will talk about them as they come up.
As for the EASHL, I’ll likely just update about those standings and leaders perhaps twice each month for the monthly seasons. Since the September season was cut short by NHL 12’s worldwide release, expect to hear some news going into the playoffs at the end of season. Afterwards, I’ll provide all the results of the season, including which Clubs finished where and who’s been named an EASHL All-Star for the month, among other things. Of course this coverage will be limited to the Xbox 360 version of the EASHL, which is where the majority of top Clubs and players are anyway.
I’ve been quite busy as of late getting KK’s Club System started up and organized. The Main Club’s “Join Request Inbox” fills up to its maximum about every two hours, no matter how often I empty it. So far, I have a pretty good idea about who will start out in the Main Club and who will be shipped off to the Farm Club for development. I have an alternate account with that Club, so I’ll be helping players along with general skills development. Although nothing will be made official until the end of the September season. We are still very much in need of high-skilled players for the Main Club, and the best way to get your shot, is to just contact me directly on XBL. My info can be found at the bottom of this blog’s “About” section.
Sadly, I’ve already had to make a few roster cuts. Nothing to do with skill, as all levels of skill are welcome, but you’ve got to have a good attitude as well, which is why I cut a good forward that we did have, as he just didn’t have the right attitude to fit into the KK Club System. I’m looking for mature people that know how to play hockey and not be constant jerks, which I don’t think is too much to ask for.
On a personal note, my own Goaltending has gotten off to a poor start, at least by my standards. Although I’m still hanging in on the borderline of the Top 100 overall goalies, although it’s my goal to eventually find a permanent home there, as well as hopefully land myself an All-Star spot, but we shall see. I still have a very difficult Legend card to earn, and my numbers have been spotty this month with all of the new player tryouts going on with the Club System.
Plus I still have my duties here at KK. I have quite a lot on my plate, so bear with me people, as I’m only human, and there is only one of me. So I can’t be everywhere at once. Things will get much better once I find some good bloggers to hand off my minor league coverage to, and then I can just focus directly on the EASHL and all things EA Sports NHL-series related, which will highly improve the quality of both this blog, and my job as GM of KK’s Club System.
Today marks a happy day though, as it feels like the hockey season has truly begun, as I sit here and watch the debut of NHL Live for the season, and await the start of a pre-season game between the Sens and Leafs… then I’ll put the virtual tie back on and attend to my virtual GM duties. Note, that was current at the time I was writing it, by the time this post goes up, because of the formatting problems I had with the league stats, I’m already watching said pre-season game.
I’ve got quite the busy schedule, which will only intensify as the weeks move along. Thankfully I’ve learned a lot about persistence and multi-tasking from my 10 years in the independent film world, so don’t expect to ever see me fold or ever call it quits, as I’ll always be doing my best to bring you all the coverage that I humanly can.
Cheers to hockey, and to Kukla’s Korner. Now it’s gametime. I suggest you start your warm-ups, as things will soon be getting kicked into an even higher gear than they are now.

About Cluster Pucks
Here at Cluster Pucks, you find a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but it’s all hockey. I mostly try and stick to the rather insane task that I’ve given myself of attempting to cover the CHL, NCAA Hockey, as well as the EA Sports Hockey League, in addition to other EA Sports NHL-series related news. So yeah, unless I specifically plan something, you never know what you might get from me on a day to day basis. I tend to write pretty thorough and in-depth posts more often than not that. I can also be pretty opinionated at times, so feel free to disagree with me however you wish, just don’t be surprised when I comment back and keep the discussion going.
Before I came on board here at Kukla’s Korner, I spent 10 years of my life working as a writer and director in the independent film world. I don’t have any sort of formal degree, or hockey writing background other than my work here. Although I’ve always loved hockey and writing, so it seemed like the perfect fit. I’m always eager to hear what the readers think, so if you’ve got a question, comment, idea, whatever, just feel free to email me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org

I’m also the General Manager of KK’s EASHL Club System (Xbox 360), which is always looking for new talent, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to run with some serious and talented EASHL players, feel free to contact me over Xbox Live. My gamertag is Doug IVI (that’s eye vee eye at the end). Just include KK in your message, so I can help sort out the junk messages.
