I’m very happy to report that I have just received my early retail copy of NHL 12 for review from EA Sports!
I know this might seem like rather shocking and unexpected news, considering yesterday’s blog post, when this looked like this was the last thing that would possibly happen. However, apparently a lot can change in less than 24 hours. I’m not joking around either, and below is all the proof you should need.
In a nutshell, here is what happened between then and now. About 20 minutes after yesterday’s post went up, I got another email from EA’s PR department, which then began a conversation about the remote possibility of me getting one of what is a very small and limited supply of early retail copies that might be available. The next thing I know, at 7:44PM, I received my confirmation email from UPS of my “Next Day Air” shipment, just as I had kindly requested. Honestly, I don’t think the previous blog post had anything to do with this, and it was just pure coincidence of timing. However, at this point, I don’t really care how it happened, I’m just ecstatic that it did.
At this time, I really must personally and publicly give my tremendous thanks on the behalf of myself, Kukla’s Korner, and all of our readers around the world, to EA Sports’ Communications Coordinator for the NHL-series (among others), Ritu Sidhu, who somehow made all of this magic happen.
Now I must give you, my loyal readers, a quick rundown of things. As this sudden change of events will directly impact my blog’s coverage leading up to my in-depth and comprehensive review of NHL 12, which will be posted up sometime late in the morning, or early afternoon on September 13, the day of the official North American release date. Because I’m really going to have to cram in the playing time between now and then, as I’ve only got a mere 11 days to absorb every little aspect of NHL 12, which is a pretty expansive game.
Oh, and for you math dorks out there, I know my math on that appears to be off by a day, but I’m taking into account that I will be losing an entire day’s worth of review time due to the fact that I will on special assignment at the Joe Louis Arena to provide comprehensive coverage of the Detroit Red Wings HockeyFest 2011 on Saturday, September 10th.
Since I’m going to have to be running on a near-sleepless schedule in order to get my review done in 11 days, the blog will be going on a bit of a mini-break between now and September 13, when my review will be posted. Although I have already had the time to plan everything out, so I can tell you now, exactly what you can expect to hear from me between now and then.
The schedule of future posts is as follows.
Thursday, September 8th: A full and detailed preview of the Detroit Red Wings HockeyFest 2011
Friday, September 9th: A very special announcement involving NHL 12, Kukla’s Korner, and the EASHL
Saturday, September 10th: My on-site coverage of HockeyFest 2011, directly from the Joe Louis Arena
Sunday, September 11th: A massive recap of all of the events and activities at HockeyFest 2011
Tuesday, September 13th: My in-depth and comprehensive review of NHL 12
After that, the blog will resume normal activity now that the bulk of my NHL 12 coverage will be wrapped up with my review. Then expect things to return to their normal focus of a mix of CHL, NCAA Hockey, and EASHL coverage, along with the occasional random hockey-related topic.
Anyway, as I am currently writing this post at around 4AM, to be updated and posted up later this morning, after I have my copy of NHL 12 in my hands. So I need to get some sleep, as I’ve got a tremendous amount of exciting work ahead of me in the next 12 days or so.

Here at Cluster Pucks, you find a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but it’s all hockey. I mostly try and stick to the rather insane task that I’ve given myself of attempting to cover the CHL, NCAA Hockey, as well as the EA Sports Hockey League, in addition to other EA Sports NHL-series related news. So yeah, unless I specifically plan something, you never know what you might get from me on a day to day basis. I tend to write pretty thorough and in-depth posts more often than not that. I can also be pretty opinionated at times, so feel free to disagree with me however you wish, just don’t be surprised when I comment back and keep the discussion going.
Before I came on board here at Kukla’s Korner, I spent 10 years of my life working as a writer and director in the independent film world. I don’t have any sort of formal degree, or hockey writing background other than my work here. Although I’ve always loved hockey and writing, so it seemed like the perfect fit. I’m always eager to hear what the readers think, so if you’ve got a question, comment, idea, whatever, just feel free to email me anytime at email@example.com
