Canucks and Beyond

Last year’s Stanley Cup Final against the Boston Bruins featured a very clever video by Canucks’ fan Adam MacKay-Smith—you can see it here. One of my favourite fan videos of all time.
Last night C&B posted the new Canucks jersey photos and about 90% of poll respondents voted positively—it broke down as “Not Bad” (48%) or they “Love it” (42%) with “Hate it” taking just 9% thus far. A small sampling, but that’s some pretty positive feedback all things considered, given the frightful history of Canucks jersey unveilings.
Oh my. Can’t really argue with the inspiration for Johnny Canuck looking at that. Although for the record, I’d never even heard of Vachon before today, and yet now I’ll probably be thinking of the May West every time I look at this new logo. Do try to remember, even though I know you’ve had a severe trauma to the head, that I don’t care nor will I ever go on a hunger strike for anything that has to do with the “latest canuck drama”. I’m sorry your team sucks, but perhaps you should recognize that it is named after a semi-derogatory name for citizens of your country, and take the emotional cue as to how it will ultimately succeed from that.
Blah, blah, blah…. But it made me wonder, why is poor Johnny C so misunderstood?
