Canucks and Beyond

So, I’m distressed to say that I missed the Canucks second game of the season, against Columbus on Monday.
Not because I was busy with work (it was Canadian Thanksgiving); not because my kid was screaming for attention (she was buried in family affection all weekend and really didn’t want anything to do with any of us after a certain point); not because I was cooking some big feast (after three straight days of Thanksgiving dinners, I may never look at food again, much less turkey); and not because I was too drunk to program the PVR (like I said, Thanksgiving, family, screaming kids, etc).
None of these things.
No, the reason I missed Monday’s game against Columbus is because I downloaded the Canucks iPhone app.
A swirl of rumors, fake tweets and re-tweets led to the only moment of excitement in Canucks land so far today when TSN’s Gord Miller (who quickly turned out not to be TSN’s Gord Miller) posted this: “Can confirm Florida has traded Reasoner to #Canucks for 3rd in 2011” . This was quickly re-tweeted by numerous people, including members of the NHL’s media, but which obviously proved not to be true. Sportnet’s Dan Murphy:
Don’t believe the Reasoner rumour. Plenty of fake twitter accounts out there. Haven’t heard anything from Rogers Arena yet.
And beat writer Matthew Sekeres would agree: “Canucks have NOT acquired Marty Reasoner for a 3rd rd pick. False report.”
As for any upcoming Reasoner/Canucks speculation, don’t get your hopes up.
“The start of our games have to be better,” [Alain] Vigneault said after the team practised at GM Place Thursday. “We know it, we’ve talked about it. We’re going to continue to address it.”
And other breaking news you might need confirmation on: Global warming is apparently not science fiction, and Princess Diana is still dead.
So, moving on to more important issues…
