Canucks Free Agency Thrills, in summary—
Negatives:
- The Canucks lay their bets on Backes. That didn’t work out so well.
- Canucks throw $20,000,000 at Mats Sundin. But even that isn’t enough money to play for Vancouver these days
Positives:
- Those Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues Reclamation Projects (if you’re into that sorta thing)
- And it turns out the Canucks do have a backup plan for losing Sundin…
...this is it:

Sweet geezus. There’s more at TSN, but do you care?
It’s noon here, and so cocktail hour shall commence.
And thank god for that. Matthew Sekeres’s assessment of Gillis at the Globe & Mail is best enjoyed while tipsy.
