Canucks and Beyond

The City of Vancouver has some new proposals on their agenda as noted on Mayor Sam Sullivan’s website:
* Mayor Sullivan proclaim Trevor Linden Day later this year - on a date to be confirmed with the Vancouver Canucks
* The City of Vancouver and the Mayor’s Office work with the Vancouver Canucks to identify other ways to celebrate Trevor Linden
* The City of Vancouver’s Street Naming Committee be encouraged to consider ways to recognize Trevor Linden’s legacy
I’m not crazy about the ‘Trevor Linden Day’ idea, but naming a street after him seems like an obvious choice.
As for other ways to recognize his legacy, I do find the question interesting since I think it’s a sincere one, not just political. It seems like Vancouver fans do want to give back in recognition of his contributions to the city and province, yet don’t quite know how.
Meanwhile, Linden’s name has popped up in association with a new real estate development in Victoria, on Vancouver Island.
A simple investment or future career?
Someone had to ask.
