A Treatise Against Golf

I’m not a fan of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. I follow the sport only when I see it on the daily ESPN top 10 list. I respect hockey and its athletes, but it just isn't entertaining enough to sit through an entire game for a single goal or the occasional brawl. To be a true hockey fan you either grew up playing, had a professional team in your city, or you’re Canadian (ha ha ha, joking). Where are all the big-name hockey players? I can't name one professional hockey player off the top of my head, other than Wayne Gretzky, who isn’t even playing anymore. We non-hockey fans need a dominant player who can attract us to watch and follow a pro hockey team in their quest for the Stanley Cup. I know golf’s boring to some people, but hey, we have Tiger Woods at least, come on! Mike Neal Stewart Park golf pro, RoseburgMan. Golfers are what ails the world. (Not to mention, ESPN). What now? You say you can't really get into hating golf? Hmmm... Then perhaps you can be persuaded to dislike law enforcement, if only for a moment:
Can’t stand the sport
Not only am I not paying attention to the NHL playoffs, but I don’t even know which teams are playing!
I can’t stand the sport. I skip over the hockey articles in my sports magazines and use the time for the hockey highlights on Sports Center to use the bathroom (I still think that is the only reason ESPN shows hockey).
My favorite year in hockey was last year during the lockout. It was great watching basketball and baseball highlights with no hockey mixed in. How do you cheer for players whose names you can’t pronounce and the greatest player in the history of the sport isn’t even from the United States?
I have tried to give hockey a chance. One year in college I watched the entire playoffs with one of only three people in the world that actually likes hockey, but I just couldn’t get into it.
Watch hockey? I would rather watch a game of college bowling or Olympic curling any day.

Ugh. Sometimes the world irritates me.
