Train Delay

I didn’t see the hit on Kopecky, and I didn’t see Downey’s antics, and I didn’t see Rafalski’s body slam of a guy who outweighs him by thirty pounds.  No, I wasn’t passed out.  Damn you all for thinking that.

Re-Thinking The Official A2Y Stance on Hudler

I’m a big guy.  In stature?  Perhaps not.  But, emotionally?  Huge.  It takes a strong man to do something like this.

December 15th, 2006/Me

What is the infatuation with this kid?  Who in the organization is so tied to him that we can’t jettison him? Is Hudler better than Rem Murray or Boyd Devereaux…two players the Wings passed on the last two training camps?  Can anyone tell me Hudler fits into the Babcock system…at all?

At what point does wasting a roster spot on his potential become too cumbersome?

Through 25 games last year?  4 points, all goals.  I had lit the torches.  Lit them, ran with them through the village.  “Hudler must go,” I said.

One Liners: Minor, Major, Does It Matter?

Kris Draper’s a frigging rebel.  On a night when the boxscore could have made an emphatic statement, he had to go and throw a shorty in there. If not for his unassisted goal in the second the entire scoresheet would have been dominated by the to this point unnamed Zetterberg, Homer and Datsyuk line.

Game 1 Impressions

You can see the post below for the whining, now for the good stuff.

Jiri Hudler needed that.  He needed to start with a jolt of confidence and it would appear that Uncle Mike has proven his genius once again by putting the kid in a prime spot to win the game. He set him up for success and that’s good to see.

Does the home team have a choice of shooting first or last during the shootout?  Because I’d,  you know, kinda rather shoot last.

For Forty Bucks You Can Learn How To Tape A Stick

And I thought paying 20 bucks a pop for a subscription to the Klessel Emporium of Garbage and Nimrods was bad.  I did until today when George Malik pointed us here.

Now you can learn what the players have know for years about health, fitness and training, as well as equipment from trends to manufacturers.

Send us your questions about fitness, health and equipment issues, and look for Piet and Paul to answer some of them in future issues of Inside Hockeytown and at RedWingsWorld.com.

That’s right kids!!  For a mere forty dollar subscription to Red Wings World you too can speak directly to the Detroit Red Wing trainer AND equipment manager.

Just when I thought the Wing PR machine couldn’t get any more frigging pathetic.

Speaking of which, on to the Diggers.

Khan(!) Sighting

Just when you think life without hockey had become all too comfortable for Deep Digger Captain Ansar Khan(!), he staggers in from nowhere to fill our heads with brilliance.  Apparently convinced the in-depth scouting reports he wrote two days after the Anaheim series aren’t quite enough to merit a consistent paycheck, MLive’s Wing beat writer is back with a vengeance.

His blog from last night is rife with nuggets of insight like this: “It’s really different,’’ Rafalski said Thursday and this:”“I got to start practicing face-offs,’’ Kopecky said; and finally, this: “It was unfortunate,’’ Drake said.

More.
