Wings/Kings Notes

10/31/2014 at 10:31am EDT

The Kings arrived at their Detroit hotel around 12:30am after losing to the Penguins 3-0 last night and will not hold a morning skate.

Ansar Khan of Mlive answered some questions today..

Q:There is obviously a problem (on the power play), but they can't seem to figure it out. Could it be the single defenseman power play setup? I know they've used it in the past, but it doesn't seem to be working. What do you think is the problem, and what could they do to fix it? -- Dalton

A: I don't know if the single defenseman set-up is an issue. The problem is they don't have many other power play options on the blue line. I think they should try Brendan Smith, but coach Mike Babcock is reluctant to do that, for reasons he will not specify.

I think the problem is just what Babcock and players have talked about - they need to attack more. They need more shots (they have only 40 shots in 55:49 with the extra man), they need to be better at retrievals and they need a better net presence. Players acknowledge this, but haven't acted on it.

All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
